Montreal's Gare Centrale, north of Place Bonaventure in downtown, services the popular VIA Rail Quebec City-Windsor route that goes to Niagara Falls. The US run Amtrak connects Montreal with New York City and Chicago via Toronto and Niagara Falls. While other railway stations in North America are served by a tunnel or viaduct, Montreal's Central Station is the only one to combine these two methods of access and to be laid out accordingly. It is directly linked to the Underground City’s network of shops and hotels. From there, you can take the metro at Bonaventure station or walk to the underground tunnels. Central station is fully operational, serving both regional and national passengers.
