Our original focus was to provide a directory of services; thus the domain name outdoorsdirectory.com Since we began in 1996, our focus has expanded to providing information about all aspects of hunting and fishing. Today, you will find general information about hunting and fishing, some very active forums, a magazine of articles about fishing and hunting, a directory of outdoors service providers, information about hunting and fishing areas, and a growing bookstore with many Alaska outdoors and travel titles.

In the fishing section, you will find considerable general information to get you started. Our areas pages, while not yet complete, will provide additional information. Follow the various links to find out more about the fish you want to pursue. The forum is busy and you will often find answers to your questions. Check out the archives where we have kept many of the best threads.

In hunting, you will find the same. Be sure to check out the magazine for an eclectic mix of information about this activity.

Alaska hunting guides Ralph Miller and Jim Weidner own Deltana Outfitters and hunt from the Alaska Peninsula to the Brooks Range. Their specialties are guided hunts for Alaska Dall sheep, brown or grizzly bear, and moose.
Mike and Karen Keating operate Big Blue Charters from one of the most places on the planet -- and one of the best for fishing, too. They operate a small charter fleet that fishes for Alaska salmon, halibut, and rockfish out of Sitka, Alaska. Karen has gone to some pains to provide an ongoing scrapbook that shows anglers and their catches over the past few years. Mike and Karen also manage Big Blue Fisheries a.k.a. Alaska Smoked Fish where you can buy fresh frozen or smoked Alaska salmon, halibut, crab, shrimp and other seafood and have it delivered to your home for your seafood party.
Captain Rob Scherer's Classic Alaska Charters cruises Alaska's inside passage in his small ship and fishes for salmon and halibut from Ketchikan. Rob knows southern southeast waters and can take you and your group for a memorable week's cruise in beautiful wilderness country where you will catch fish and see wildlife.
Steve and Peggy Andresen recently moved from Wasilla to Port Lions on Kodiak Island so they could live full time at Port Lions Lodge. The northwest tip of Kodiak Island is great fishing country for salmon and halibut, along with steelhead and more.
Johnnie Laird runs Muskeg Excursions out of Ketchikan, Alaska. He specializes in Alaska mountain goat, brown bear and deer hunts in southern southeast Alaska. Johnnie has made his own scrapbook of pictures from past hunts and other interests, so you can get a good idea what hunting with him is like.
Derek Floyd with Reel Class Charters is another fisherman with years of experience connecting fishermen with Alaska halibut and salmon from Sitka.
Alaska registered guide Byron Lamb and his wife Jana provide outfitted big game hunts for Alaska bear, moose and caribou from their base in Dillingham in southwest Alaska.
