Q: Why should I choose
Jaguar Reef Lodge as the venue for my dive trip?
A: You should choose us for many reasons, among them,
we have easy and relatively fast access to many of the best dive sites in Belize
and the Caribbean generally from our central coast location. These sites include some
of the world's top rated dive sites including the central barrier reef, Turneffe
and Glovers Atolls. We are much closer to these sites than Placencia which means
less time in the boat and more time in the water! |
|
Q: Your dive pricing is much lower
than your competitors in the area and much lower ( up to 40%! ) less than
resorts in Placencia. How can you offer quality diving at such low rates?
Am I missing something?
A: The only thing you are missing is the high prices,
as mentioned above our location is much closer to the reefs and atolls than
Placencia which means less gas burned, less running time and uncomparable value
for your diving dollar! |
|
Q: I understand your
policy is quality, not quantity, please explain.
A: That is correct, this is fundamental to our whole
resort operation and nowhere is it more true than in our diving operation. We
will never overload our boats just to make a few extra bucks. The maximum number
of divers we will carry is eight, although we prefer even smaller groups of 4 - 6
which enhances your diving experience and increases to level of safety and
comfort. |
|
Q: I notice that you
don't offer a dive trip to the Blue Hole, why is this?
A: The Blue Hole is, in our view completely over-rated
and most divers whom spend the money and time getting out to it return
disappointed. Firstly it is a very long way over unprotected and often very
rough waters. There is very little of interest to see once there. One has to
descend to 130' just to view a few stalagmites which cuts their bottom time to
only 5 minutes, even with a decompression stop. There are not even any coral
formations on the way down to view so is not, contrary to it's reputation even
a marginally good dive site. Do you want to spend 5 hours on rough seas and
hundreds of dollars all for a few minutes of bottom time? We think not! The Blue
Hole is nothing more than a marketing ploy and we refuse to waste our guests
valuable vacation time and funds on such a folly as this. |

Q: Most resorts have a
4 - 6 person minimum in order to do a dive trip. I noticed your minimums are
much lower, how is it you are able to do this when other resorts will not?
A: We run a very efficient operation. Our boats are
specifically designed for economy and comfort even in rough seas and are powered
by efficient and environmentally friendly 4 stoke engines which consume far less
gas than our competitors. Our location gives us much faster access to the best
diving spots. There is nothing more disappointing than traveling thousands of
miles with the expectation of going diving only to find out there are not enough
people to do a dive! We want to avoid this whenever possible which is why our
minimum for a barrier reef dive is just 2 people and our minimum for atoll dives
is just 4 people. Compare this to our competition! |
