Sundive is Byron Bay's only PADI dive centre. Since it was established in 1988, Sundive has earned numerous PADI service awards and is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in diver training. Training ranges from beginner dive courses through to instructor certifications.

Under new ownership since July 2002, Sundive still has all the friendly faces that you have grown accustomed to plus the added energy of new Owners/Directors Andy Mair and Giacomo (Jack) Cavazzini. As a team, the Sundive Crew deliver an unequivocally consistent, safe service with the training, education and passion needed to make your diving experience one to remember.

The Core Sundive Crew consists of the following Team members;

Giacomo - An underwater explorer for nearly 15 years, Giac is one of the proud new owners of Sundive Byron Bay. Having concentrated most of his extensive diving career along the NSW Southern coastline Giac has finally found his home among the rich waters of Byron Bay. Originally from Italy, Giac grew up and learned to dive in Sydney alongside Business partner and former school buddy Andy Mair. Giac is an Environmental Science graduate from UNSW, Master Scuba Diver Trainer and a DAN Ist Aid Instructor. He is also trained as a TDI Deco Procedures,  Advanced Nitrox and Dolphin SCR Diver. One of the few Sundive Crew who feels just as comfortable with 4 Tanks as he does with 1.

Andy - As mentioned above, Andy is the joint owner of Sundive Byron Bay alongside Giac Cavazzini. Andy started his diving career as a free diver along the Sydney coastline, Andy has been chasing fish for more than half his life. Following his passion, Andy studied Marine Science/Aquaculture at UTAS spent the next 7 years instructing all around Australia and abroad. Rating Julian Rocks as one of the most consistent and beautiful of all dive spots known to him, how could he resist the opportunity to live and work in such beautiful surroundings? Andy is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, 1st Aid Instructor, keen underwater naturalist and full time water surfer. Unfortunately for him we have to drag Andy out of the water every now and then to fulfil those dreaded paperwork commitments...

Rod - Free Diver, Diver and waterman extraordinaire, Rod is an enormous asset to the business. Driving dive boats for more than 15yrs, Rod is one of the very experienced skippers working with Sundive. Combined with his experience as a PADI MSDT & NAUI Instructor Rod keeps the diving operations running smoothly and safely. Rod is also the original Sundiver beginning the operation way back in 1988.

Jeff - PADI MSDT, NAUI Course Director, First Aid instructor, and Coxswain. Jeff's main roles are as a skipper and teaching higher level courses (Rescue & Divemaster). All he wanted us to say was... he was born in a boat!

The Doctor - aka Dave. The fastest man at Sundive. Dave has also been clocked swimming at 10 knots into heavy current. His speed is only surpassed by his knowledge and enthusiasm. Can identify and find any of the 600 described species in the marine park. One of our most experienced underwater guides having logged thousands of dives at Julian Rocks. This photo was taken just after he was beamed down from the Starship Enterprise.
