Distance Education Scheduling Information
Effective Fall Semester 2000

Course scheduling information applies to interactive TV courses, telecourses (public broadcast and video check-out), and internet courses scheduled every fall and spring semester.  Different section numbers apply for distance education courses scheduled during summer semesters.

Internet courses

Use section 504 for all internet courses, except CSCI 1100 and 1101. 

Use section numbers 505, 506, etc., in sequential order if more than one section of an internet course  is scheduled.

For CSCI 1100 and 1101, use section numbers established for off-campus sites at Kingsport and Bristol.

Announcement:  Beginning Spring 2002, use the following format for including notes with all Interactive TV courses.

        Format:  Course number and Title, section numbers, will be offered through the Instructional Television Sysem. 
        Example:  ENGL 3150, sections 501, 531, 541, and 561 will be offered through the Instructional Television System.

The shorter note reduces duplicate information and makes all ITV course notes standard.  Room numbers and location are listed by section number.

Interactive TV courses

For Interactive TV courses, room numbers, maximum enrollments per classroom, section numbers, and site codes are listed for on- and off-campus sites.   Enrollments are determined by the department and can vary by on- and off-campus sites..  Enrollments are usually limited for courses to meet oral, written, and/or technology intensive requirements.  Note:   for ETSU at Greeneville, a select number of undergraduate courses, and any upper-division and graduate courses can be scheduled.

Telecourses (public broadcast and video check-out)

Section numbers and site codes are listed below.  Section numbers for off-campus sites exist only for public broadcast telecourses.  For public broadcast telecourses, section numbers exist for on- and off-campus sites.  Only one section number is used for video check-out telecourses. 

Enrollment is determined by a department for public broadcast telecourses.  For video check-out  telecourses, enrollment is usually limited to a maximum of forty (40) students.

Orientations are held for every telecourse.  Orientation dates must be included with a note for each telecourse.
