Guests will notice immediately that Cherry Lea House is very quiet and private yet it is close to so much. It is just a five-minute walk to the Cadboro Bay Beach, is on a major bus route to downtown and a five-minute walk to charming Cadboro Bay Village. The Village includes a grocery store and video store, a supermarket, a health food store, a pharmacy, a full-service bank, a bookstore, a gift shop, a travel agent, a hairdresser, a toyshop, a gift shop, a gas station, a pub and two restaurants.

The nearby Gyro Park, which is attached to Cadboro Bay Beach, has tennis courts, picnic grounds and a playground featuring giant figures of an octopus, salmon, and of course “Cadborosaurus”. Cadborosaurus or “Caddie” is a legendary sea creature thought to inhabit the depths of Cadboro Bay, much like the Loch Ness Monster. There is also a boat structure for children to play on. There are various events held at the park throughout the summer months, which include a vintage automobile display. Picnics, tennis and sand castle building are always popular.

For the more sports-inclined, the bay is very suitable for sailing and sea kayaking. The Royal Victoria Yacht Club is minutes away. The Uplands Golf course, also just minutes away, is an eighty-year-old course and provides entertainment for golf enthusiasts. The nearby (about a five-minute car ride) Henderson Recreation centre, has a nine-hole golf course, fitness studio, badminton and a gym. The University of Victoria is a fifteen-minute walk away from Cherry Lea House. Its’ many amenities include live music and theatre performances and movies. Of course, there is an extensive library.

Cherry Lea House is situated in the Arbutus area, which has many quaint walking trails and winding roads for pleasant strolls or bike rides. You may even be lucky enough to spot deer that inhabit the region and are sometimes they are bold enough to venture into gardens. Adventurous deer have been known to nibble on the fruit of the apple tree at Cherry Lea House’s back garden!
Ten Mile Point is within walking distance and has many small beaches with fascinating tide pools to explore.

Downtown Victoria is just fifteen minutes away by car. The B.C. Ferries terminal and the International Airport are about 20-30 minutes away from Cherry Lea House
