Special CollectionsThe Rob Cash Memorial Collection The Rob Cash Memorial Collection is housed in an oak bookcase designed and hand-crafted by SIT staff member Gary Cota to reflect Rob's affinity for Native American history, culture, and art. Language CollectionThe Language Collection offers multidisciplinary resources for students learning a second language or learning to teach a second language. It houses foreign language dictionaries, instructional readers, foreign language texts, videos, CD-ROMs, audio CDs, cassettes, and country realia. Its materials cover a wide variety of languages, ranging from Afrikaans to Zulu. The collection also includes materials on teaching English as a second language. The Language Collection is located on the second floor of the library in the Language Resource Room. SIETAR Collection on Intercultural CommunicationThe SIETAR Collection consists of materials devoted to the promotion of cross-cultural communication and international understanding. The collection was donated by SIETAR International (Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research). SIETAR International views the world as a set of interdependent cultures which are equal in value and offer a variety of approaches to living in a global community. The goal of intercultural education, training, and research is to increase acceptance and respect among culture groups and their members, and to thereby encourage peace in the world community. The SIETAR materials can be found in the main library collection. |

The
Rob Cash Memorial Collection houses a library of materials on critical
issues of peace studies and conflict transformation. The collection
was established in June 1992 to honor the memory of Robert Cash, a student
in SIT's World Issues Program (WIP 19) who was killed in a car accident
shortly after his graduation. Rob loved books and was deeply concerned
about peace issues. The Rob Cash Memorial Collection is supplemented
annually by gifts from individual donors and other sources, such as
the U.S. Institute of Peace. The collection also includes books on democracy
and conflict transformation donated in memory of the late Claudia Godfrey,
who attended SIT's Program in International Management in 1997.
