1351 NW 12th Street, Suite # 124 | Miami, Florida 33125 Telephone: (305) 275-1111 | Business Hours: 9:00am - 4:00 pm The Traffic Court processes traffic citations issued by every law enforcement agency in Miami-Dade County. Duties include public records custodial duties, fine collections and maintaining calendars for County Court Judges and Hearing Officers. A Voice Response telephone system known as DIAL – Direct Information Access Lines provides general information on traffic violations, court procedures and court approved programs. Court requests are received through this system enabling the caller to request a court hearing at the touch of the finger. This process eliminates the need to write a letter or wait in line to obtain a trial date. Individuals desiring to pay a traffic citation by credit card may now do so by telephone. These expanded services generate over 80,000 calls per month on the DIAL system. To save defendants a trip to our office to satisfy a traffic citation, the Clerk’s office provides an instructional mailer envelope, which is given to the defendant by the issuing police officer. The mailer allows the defendant to pay by mail using a credit card. Payment instructions include all statutory options. By reading these instructions, one can take care of citation obligations without further contact with the Traffic Division. Since January, 1995 the Traffic Division has been involved in cooperation with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), and Miami-Dade County in the design and implementation of imaging technology. SPIRIT (Simultaneous Paperless Image Retrieval Information Technology) is a series of technology-based information systems developed for the Traffic Division of Miami-Dade County. The projects were initiated to provide improved service to the various agencies that process traffic cases, attorneys and the public, and to respond to increased pressure from the public to be able to do more with less. SPIRIT was developed and implemented for the Traffic Division; however, many of the core architecture and application components were built with the intention of expanding the capability to other case types. The various components of the SPIRIT technology have transformed the Traffic Court Division into a “paperless court” significantly improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of this court.
