Alliance and Leicester

The Alliance & Leicester Group started trading in 1852 with the formation of the Leicester Permanent Benefit Society, followed by their merger with Leicester Building Society in 1985; so forming the Alliance and Leicester group, and the later purchase of Girobank from the Post Office in 1990.
