Norwich Union
GCU and Norwich Union merged on 30th May 2000 and became CGNU plc, Noriwch Union in effect became the world's 6th largest insurer, and part of the UK's largest insurance group. On 1st July 2002 the group was renamed Aviva plc.
Aviva's core business activities are long-term savings, general insurance and asset management, and since October 2000 the combined life and pensions, general insurance and retail fund businesses in the UK began to operate under the Norwich Union brand. Norwich Union have recently launched the Quote Me Happy brand for Car Insurance, Travel Insurance, and Home Insurance. It aims to, well, give you a quote you will be happy with! Could this be the old traditional insurers trying to sound young and trendy?
