SIT Center for Intercultural Programs
Other Center Offerings
SIT's Center for Intercultural Programs makes its
diversity, language, and culture learning expertise available to those
outside the SIT community—individuals in the surrounding regions
wishing to learn another language and professionals seeking to enhance
their intercultural facility in the marketplace.
Program offerings have included:
- The North American Summer Esperanto Institute, offered
during the summer, brings together scholars and others interested in
promoting and learning this global language that was developed in 1887
to serve as the lingua franca for multicultural understanding.

Summer Esperanto Institute.
- The Salaam/Shalom/Peace Program was created in 2002
to help foster communication and understanding between and among the
peoples of the Muslim and Jewish communities locally and elsewhere.
This weeklong program comprises two elements: daytime instruction in
Arabic and Hebrew, and evening presentations and discussions on the
cultural component of these related yet distinct groups.

Program.
- Foreign Language Teaching Workshops are offered for
individuals interested in exploring the possibility of becoming a teacher
of a foreign language they already speak. These one-day workshops are
open to SIT students and to the community—to those with some experience
and to those with no experience or training in the field.

Language Teaching Workshops.
