An avid naturalist, Mr. Young’s greatest desire in developing Middle Island was protection of the environment and the delicate eco-system of the maritime forest, saltwater marshes and it’s beaches. Rod Hyson shared that special vision of Middle Island and the rest became history. Middle Island Plantation is now in it’s final phase of development, with just a few home sites remaining. Those who have invested there have been rewarded with incredible property value increases in the past year. But more importantly, a very special part of Bald Head Island will be forever protected.
