ICANN Engages Independent Evaluation Team to Review .NET Applications
ICANN has engaged Telcordia Technologies, Inc. to review and assess the applications submitted in response to the .NET Request for Proposals. The assessment process, already begun, will actively involve at least ten of the Telcordia technical and professional staff and include site visits to the qualified applicants. Telcordia Technologies, Inc. is a leading global provider of telecommunications software and services for IP, wireline, wireless and cable. Telcordia's Dr. David Sincoskie will lead a team that possesses 270 years of collective industry experience, with particular emphasis in networks, information databases, security and operations. ICANN Extends Public Comment Period for ICANN Strategic Plan
As resolved during the recent ICANN Annual Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, ICANN is extending the public comment period on its Strategic Plan to 28 February, 2005. ICANN encourages all members of the community to participate in this public comment forum.

Independent GNSO Council Review Posted
In fulfillment of the GNSO Council Terms of Reference, and ICANN Board Resolution 04.91, the independent review of the GNSO Council has been completed and is now available for public comment. The public comment period will conclude on 24 January 2005.

ICANN agrees to provide contribution to the Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG) Secretariat
The ICANN Board agreed to provide a contribution to the Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG) Secretariat. The WGIG Secretariat is responsible for supporting the WGIG and its work, including the preparation of materials, reaching out to stakeholders, and preparing the draft report of the WGIG as input to the WSIS.

ICANN Publishes Report on Implementation of the Whois Data Reminder Policy (WDRP)
ICANN's Report on Implementation of the WHOIS Data Reminder Policy (WDRP) is being published today in accordance with Amendment 6 to the ICANN/DOC Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This Report describes the requirements relating to Whois data and the new Policy. It provides statistical and narrative information on implementation status, registrar compliance, problems encountered, and possible impact on Whois accuracy.

The Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC) has notified the ICANN Board Secretary of their selection of Suzanne Woolf as the RSSAC Liaison to the ICANN Board. Ms. Woolf will be joining the Board during the ICANN Annual Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa.

ICANN Announces IDN Workshop to be Held on 1 December 2004 in Cape Town, South Africa. The IDN Workshop will build upon the achievements of the previous workshop held in Kuala Lumpur. The public is invited to provide suggestions for topics and questions that should be addressed during the workshop in Cape Town by submitting these to the IDN Discuss Forum.
