  Introduction

"Guam's Telecommunications Leader" celebrates a history of success that began twenty-three years ago. IT&E was founded in 1979 by three innovative entrepreneurs: Jose D. Perez, John M. Borlas and Jaime F. Tuquero. While IT&E Corp. was focused on the sale and installation of business telephone systems, the newly created IT&E branched into markets of its own.

IntroductionWhen IT&E began offering direct dialing service to domestic points in 1983, with rates over 47% lower than its competitor, they captured a major share of the domestic bound markets and broke the monopoly once held by the competition for over 30 years. A few short years later, in 1985, IT&E introduced direct dialing service to international points at greatly reduced rates.

Continuously expanding their service offerings, IT&E established a Saipan branch in 1986, and became Guam's foremost Internet service provider with its launch of Talaya in 1996. In 2000, IT&E brought 100% Digital Personal Communication Service (PCS) technology to Guam, with IT&E Wireless 100% Digital PCS. Later, IT&E unveiled its new earth station satellite, enabling even more worldwide transmissions to route through IT &E in Guam.

From a technology standpoint, IT&E has grown at a phenomenal rate. In 1989 IT&E opened its first international gateway switching center. In 1993, IT&E installed its second gateway--a $5 million At&T digital international gateway switching system. IT&E broke into the Internet market in 1996 and was quickly recognized as the island's leading Internet Service. In the new millennium, IT&E invested in a brand new Digital PCS Network, which required building a system from the ground up, to include nearly 60 antenna sites located islandwide and brand new Digital PCS switching center.

IT&E continues as a pioneer in the development of innovative, value-priced programs for Long Distance, Internet, and Digital PCS. The "New Right Plan" and the "Executive Plan," offer automatic long distance discounts; EconoPlus and Econocharge cards, Prepaid Telcards, IT&E WorldCalling, and IT&E WorldPerks provide value, savings, and convenience to customers, while Unlimited Internet service and a variety of Digital PCS plans give customers the most affordable rates for the most advanced Internet and wireless technology.
