McGuire enters third season at Lander
Prior to coming to Lander, McGuire served as Winthrops assistant baseball coach for six years and was an assistant coach at Morehead (Ky.) State University. He played collegiately at the University of Akron and the University of South Carolina. He was a two-time All-Mid Continent Conference shortstop in 1990 and 1991 at Akron and played at USC during the 1992 and 1993 seasons at third base. McGuire earned his bachelors degree in sports administration from the University of South Carolina and a masters degree in health, physical education and recreation from Morehead State. While at Morehead State, McGuire received coaching experience in 1994 as the player-coach of the Zanesville Greys, a professional team in the Class A Frontier League, and in 1995 as head coach of the Sandusky Bay Stars, champions of the Great Lakes Collegiate league.
