Highlights
of the Jan 6th meeting
The
Seldovia Chamber of Commerce had a meeting on Jan. 6th.
At the meeting it was decided that on Thursday nights at the MPR
downstairs in the Chamber's section, that we would have a work session
to repair the Information Signs and get them ready for the summer
season. This session is open to anyone who would like to help and
starts at 6:30 pm tomorrow night.
It was announced
at the meeting that Phil Bickford is going to have a "Seldovia
Limousine" and will also act as a taxi service and do tours
this next summer and that he has been properly licensed and insured.
During the meeting
and idea was introduced to have an Open House Day for Chamber Member
Businesses and we would invite the both the Seldovia community and
folks to this "open house day." Peggy Keesecker is Chairman
of this event and Joni Reynertson is her assistant.
The President
gave a report that, Carl High, DOT district superintendent for the
peninsula, stated that Seldovia would be receiving about 6 bags
of calcium chloride, which is enough to dust 5-6 miles of Jakolof
Road with a little left over for later in the year to handle the
pockets. Carl High encouraged the Chamber to contact its legislative
representatives to try to obtain more chemicals for the year 2006.
The Chamber
discussed plans for the Seldovia Summer Gazette which will be printed
again this year.
The Chamber
had a party after the meeting and it was well attended and everyone
seemed to enjoy themselves.
The next Chamber
meeting is scheduled for February 3rd, which is the first Thur in
February at 12:00 noon here in the MPR.
