wrinkle fillers

RADIANCE™ is one of the newest tissue fillers on the market, and these injections are popular for patients who are bothered by lines near the mouth or “jowling” at the sides of the nose and mouth.

What’s most exciting about this tissue filler is that it lasts the longest of options available today--up to four or more years in some people.

For many people, Radiance is the answer in staving off the need for a face lift. It successfully softens folds around the sides of the mouth and lip lines. It should not be used to make lips fuller, however.

People like the big advantage of Radiance--that it doesn’t have to be done repeatedly. Naturally, there’s a higher price tag due to the fact that it’s more longlasting than the other options.

Furthermore, Radiance has a good safety record. It was FDA-approved many years ago, but was introduced and trialed in cosmetic use only recently. However, Radiance has long been valuable for other medical uses. >> more info about Radiance

RESTYLANE, made in Sweden, Restylane (Q-Med) is a hyaluronic acid product that lasts much longer than collagen (Zyplast) when injected into folds around the mouth. In countries worldwide, more than a million people have been treated with Restylane successfully.

This crystal-clear biodegradable gel is injected into nasolabial folds, which can benefit greatly from Restylane. Some patients report that they think the result “looks better” than the results of collagen. (Incidentally, with collagen injections, more people experience allergic reactions, about two of 100 patients, compared to one in several thousand with Restylane.)

Restylane is also used for sculpting lips. You may want to have a more pronounced mouth or a soft pouting look. For a more pronounced mouth, your doctor injects Restylane inside the upper and/or lower lip. This is often combined with the marking of the contour of the lip; your doctor injects Restylane gel along the lip line. This prevents lipstick bleeding into lines around your lips. Gel may also be injected in the lines that go toward the nose, for an optimal result.

PERLANE, like Restylane, is a dermal filler and is a long-lasting gel that, once injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle, lift and add volume and help diminish fine lines. Made of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid, it is a completely safe treatment. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane simply supplements the body's age-depleted hyaluronic acid to plump-up the lip or to raise the skin and 'fill in' the particular wrinkle being treated.

The difference between Restylane and Perlane is the size of the particle (with Perlane containing more hyaluronic acid). This means that Perlane does a better job of filling deep lines while Restylane is used in fine lines or in thin skinned people.

These products last for between six and nine months, although individuals will have varied results. Perlane is an excellent treatment for wrinkle correction, lip enhancement, smile lines and deep folds. Call the office today for an estimated cost of Perlane treatments.

SILICONE OIL DROPLETS: There are numerous options for lip enhancement and soft tissue augmentation available. Many, like collagen are temporary and require frequent replacement. For those individuals who are looking for long lasting enhancement with a soft natural feel, then silicone micro-droplet injections may be the answer.

Silicone oil is injected in micro-droplets, through a needle at multiple points under the skin, to treat contour defects. Over time, skin cells called fibroblasts produce new collagen, which in turn grows around the silicone droplets. More collagen growth is stimulated by continued injections, spread over time. As this progression continues, the collagen-encapsulated silicone droplets gradually fill in the depression or wrinkle.
