Since California SB 1386 went into effect on July 1, 2003 all companies that have customers in California must safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of their personal information. Access control and encryption are two solutions that can protect your customer data, mitigate the need for disclosure and help avoid potential financial damages.

To assist organizations in complying with the legislation, Entrust hosted a Web seminar on October 2. Featured speakers are Dana Mitchell, Counsel, California State Senate who aided in drafting the bill as well as Kalpana Ramakrishnan, Principal, Information Risk Management, KPMG LLP.

Topics covered during this one hour session:

  • The major provisions, intentions and consequences of the law
  • How to assess the impact on your organization
  • Recommended policies, procedures and security solutions
  • What leading companies are doing to comply

Note: This web seminar was so well attended that speakers could not respond to all of the questions in real-time. A follow-up Q&A; document was subsequently delivered to all registrants.
