Ambrosis is just outside the little village of Lux and near the well equipped town of Villefranche de Lauragais with many shops, restaurants, bars, banks, chemists, post office, etc.  It also has an excellent market on Friday morning. The property is located about 10mins from Villefranche de Lauragais, 40min from Toulouse with its international airport and excellent shopping facilities. No visit to this region should be contemplated without visiting the wonderful medieval walled city of Carcassonne which is surrounded by 52 towers and look spectacular when lit at night. There are many craft and antique shops to wander into and an abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from (and some are very reasonable priced too!)There is something for all ages thus providing a great family day out. The region is famous for "Les Chateaux du Pays Cathare" with its many castles towns and villages dating back over 800 years. There are many historic towns within 30-60mins drive from Ambrosis which include Mirepoix, Foix towards the mountains of Andorra, also more locally, Revel, Fanjeaux, Castelnaudary, Limoux, Castres and Albi. Within this area there are a number of lakes including the Lac de St Ferreol.Which is ideal for children with its sandy beach, pine woods, mini port, bars and restaurants and is only about 30mins by car. The more energetic will enjoy the golf, horse riding, tennis, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. There are also many excellent jogging and cycling routes especially along the towpaths of the famous Canal du Midi designed and built by Paul Riquet. For the connoisseur of wine this region has many interesting varieties to choose from: Corbiere, Minervois, Fitou, Malpere, La Clape, and Carbardes. There are a number of family run "caves" in area where they produce quality wines, some of which are organic at very reasonable prices. Why not enjoy a little wine tasting at the same time?
