The XE.com Currency Data Feed Service™ enables licensed commercial use of our currency data for applications such as internal accounting or price calculation in web malls, subject to certain important terms (see below).

The service enables you to download a daily currency file to the computer of your choice. You have a great deal of flexibility over the rates your receive: you can choose the file format you wish, you can select as many (or few) currencies as you wish, and you can select the time of day (in your own time zone) at which your rates are updated. We also include a number of "grace" downloads each week in case a daily download gets corrupted.

The charge is a flat annual fee of US$540, all taxes included. You can pay by credit card or by check. There are no additional or hidden charges, but if you pay by check, payment must be made in advance.

The currency rates are delivered in response to a standard HTTP GET request. You have a choice of three rate formats:

1. Format Option 1: Extensible Markup Language (XML) Format

   XML is our most popular format. It is uniquely suited to data description and delivery. Our XML datafeed includes an internal Document Type Definition (DTD) that defines its structure.
2. Format Option 2: Comma-Separated Values (CSV) Format

   The main advantage to this format is that it can be imported easily into almost any type of software. In fact, most spreadsheets (including Excel) can open CSV files "as is" with zero hassle. The format is simple: just text and numbers separated by commas.
3. Format Option 3: Standard HTML Table

   This format is not used very often, but some software prefers to import from HTML formatted web pages.

All of the datafeed samples above include all currencies that were available on the specified date. While this may sound appealing, in point of fact very few people need data on all 180+ currencies. You're of welcome to get it all, but keep in mind that you can always add or delete currencies whenever you want without any additional charge. It is worth noting that you can satisfy 95% of currency needs with the top 36 currencies alone. Further, with the top 80 currencies alone, you can achieve greater than 99% of demand coverage. Be advised that data for non-major "exotic" currencies is harder to come by and less reliable, and therefore updated less frequently. Exotic currencies include pretty much any currency on the popularity rating of less than 0.2% -- which really isn't very much. Of course you will always be able to access the last updated version of any exotic currency, but exotic currencies are just not traded as much.

• You may not redistribute pure currency data without our written permission.
  You are free to distribute value-added functionality based on rate data, such as price conversions, but you cannot redistribute any "pure" currency data, i.e. data based on currency rates alone, without clearing it with us. For example, you are allowed to use the currency data to display product prices in different currencies on a website, because this does not involve redistribution of the currency data. However, you are not allowed to, without our permission, display a table of currency rates on a web site, or build your own "currency server" that distributes currency rates to other computers. We do permit these activities, but only with permission.
• The data may not be used in competitive services without our written permission.
  You may not create competitive services or functionality with the data we provide without clearing it with us. Tools like our Universal Currency Converter™ can be licensed separately, and in many cases are available for free. • Credit must be given to XE.com wherever the data is used.
  Wherever the data is used as part of a calculation, you must credit us as the source with a short credit notice as specified by us. When permitted by the media, this notice will be an hyperlinks to the XE.com site. Where rates are used in multiple calculations in a single location, it is acceptable to display a single instance of the notice; however, the credit text must be accessible on the page where the use occurs.
• End users must accept our Terms of Use Agreement.
  All end users of any of services that use the rates in calculations must accept our main End User License Agreement ("EULA"). This is not only for our protection, but for yours as well. If your service is a paid service, this can be part of your subscription agreement. If your service is a free service, you must ensure that your place a prominent link to our EULA, either wherever the rates are used, or as a part of your terms of use page.

2. If you wish to proceed, then download and complete the XE.COM Datafeed License Agreement. The agreement contains detailed instructions on how to proceed, as well as a handy checklist to make sure you've remembered everything.

3. Once we have received the signed contract and your payment, we will e-mail you the location of a quick-start configuration form to customize your data feed. Once you fill out this form, we can activate the feed.

How long does it take to get it up and running? The only limiting factor is how fast we receive payment. We're ready whenever you are! If you pay by credit card, we can have you up and running the same day.
