Young Adults
Are you a young person between the ages of 19 and 24? Do you want to help others and make an impact locally, nationally and internationally? Then consider volunteering with the American Red Cross!
Volunteers have always been at the heart of the American Red Cross. In fact, for every one Red Cross employee, there are 37 volunteers! The American Red Cross has a long history of involving young people at all levels of our organization. Young Adults currently make up 8% of our total volunteer population, over 90,000 strong and are involved in every area of Red Cross!
Becoming a Red Cross volunteer is a great way to meet new people, gain new skills and help humanity. Your local Red Cross welcomes young adult involvement and many Red Cross units have young adult groups you can join. Whether you get involved by taking a Red Cross course, serving as a service provider, certified instructor, or governance volunteer on a local board - you'll find the Red Cross has so much to offer! Check out the link to Education/Volunteer Opportunities for some examples of ways young adults are involved in the American Red Cross.
If you're a college student interested in providing community service, exploring different career fields, and gaining marketable skills, consider doing an internship or volunteering at your local chapter. You can bring the Red Cross to you by joining or forming an American Red Cross Campus Club. Red Cross Campus Clubs work hand-in-hand with their local Red Cross chapter from their two and four year colleges and universities across the country. Click on the Campus Club link to the left to learn more!
You can also learn more about what we do at the American Red Cross by touring our Virtual Museum and by visiting our virtual Disaster Operations Center (DOC), the brains behind the American Red Cross national disaster relief operations. We're still under construction, so there is much more to come. Stay tuned!
