The mix of the old and the new in this opening concert - a contemporary composition and a classical masterpiece – is a major feature of the Konzerthaus' repertoire. With its broad, diverse and exciting programme the Konzerthaus ranks alongside the Vienna State Opera and the Musikverein in contributing to Vienna's fame as a city of music.

The adjacent Akademietheater specializes in both classic and contemporary works, from Brecht to Shakespeare. The Burgtheater Company often performs here, it's the world-famous troupe's second, smaller house.
