In 1996, Brendan Walsh, one of the nation’s most accomplished and respected chefs, brought what he calls “Yankee Cusine” to Ridgefield when he and his wife Cris opened the Elms Restaurant & Tavern.

First is the Award Winning Main Restaurant, where Walsh re-invents American classics with an original take and elevates them, among them chowders, stews, roasts and spoonbreads. The result is unique and delectable. Walsh is best known for a skillful hand in cooking game and seafood and the lifelong pursuit and use of the freshest ingredients avaliable in agricultural markets. His menus change seasonally, even daily. The service is as flawless as his preparations. Diners experience candlelight dining in one of three intimate rooms with a roaring fireplace.

Second, within the Elms, is the Tavern, which features one course meals emphasizing the restaurant’s wood burning grill. Simple grilled fish, in-house smoked salmon, Ridgefield Farms quality steaks, and daily blackboard specials bring in the locals for quick, casual meals. The bangers & mash was recommended by the NY Times as the feature dish. Elms has a covered Terrace that overlooks Ballard Park, which USA Today calls “One of the Top Outdoor Dining in America.”
The fresh and flavorful offerings end with irresistible desserts prepared by pastry chef Randy Shanlian. Historical themes reappear in the popular Apple Pan Dowdy, Indian Pudding, Strawberry Shortcake and Randy’s Award Winning Pies.

Elms is available for special occasions in one of three private dining rooms for parties of 8-45 guests; perfect for surprise milestone birthdays or corporate meetings with personalized menus. Walsh’s reputation for food and wine pairings has made Elms a favorite destination for Winery Showcase Diners.
