Slavia
This cafe was founded in 1800 as a meeting place for artists and intellectuals since it is just in front of the National Theater. During the Communist Era it became a meeting point of the opposition, and Vaclav Havel, later elected President, was a good client at that time. It was closed in 1991 because of an ownership argument but thanks to a petition it was re-opened in 1997. The windows by the riverside offer you the best panorama of Prague with the Castle and Charles Bridge.

Kavarna Obecni dum
The magnificently restored Municipal House (1905-11) is rightly one of Pragues most celebrated buildings. It features a stunning art nouveau concert space, galleries and a decent French restaurant but its cafe takes the cake. Replete with impossibly elaborate jugendstil brass chandeliers, balconies, a pianist and, somewhat incongruously, a few Internet terminals, a cup of espresso here is not likely to be forgotten.

Kava, Kava, Kava is one of Pragues most visited cafes, and for good reason. Even its location in the passage Platyz gives it a lot of advantages. You can meet there before your evening fun, or just for an afternoon cup of coffee. Another of its specialities is a Coffee Shop with a unique choice of many different kinds of coffee from every corner of the planet. You can visit the place for breakfast or after sleepless night for a cup of strong coffee. Its open from 7 am to 10 pm on working days, and during weekends, two hours later.
