Half Life 2 Reviewed

Posted by: Administrator on Mon, 31 Jan 2005 02:33:07 (175 reads)
Our new reviewer John Larkin has reviewed Half Life 2.

"The original Half-Life picked up over 50 game of the year awards, and it’s still alive and kicking. It’s currently installed on hundreds of thousands, if not millions of hard-drives across the globe. The game spawned a countless number of mods, and fan-built creations- some of which even moved on to be published by the game creators themselves: Valve. Well they’ve cranked out yet another hit- it’s called Half-Life 2, and it’s damn good."

Star Wars: Empire At War

Posted by: Mike on Mon, 24 Jan 2005 03:00:36 (276 reads)
This is one of the most amazing RTS games I have yet seen, and while it's release date is pretty far away (Fall 2005) its is worth mentioning simply because it is so incredibly cool. Being developed by Petroglyph games and published by LucasArts (big surprise there), it's an RTS set in the Star Wars universe, but this time it's serious. The time setting is sometime before ep. 4 and after ep 3, in a the time of turmoil when the empire was first forming, so you can change history for either side if you win. The graphics, models, high polygon landscapes and shading effects look stunning even in the game's unfinished form. Empire At War also made cover stories on two major gaming magazines. It also features space battles, but I can't tell what form those will take yet. Empire at war looks so simply amazing that it bears watching, and anxious waiting for the release. Cheers, ~Mike

Punishment on the PC

Posted by: Mike on Mon, 24 Jan 2005 02:53:53 (266 reads)
Sometime recently (Past week or so I'm thinking) The Punisher was released on the PC. From what I've seen of it (based on the demo I've played), the graphics are none too impressive but it seems fun and is certainly bloody enough. Once I go out and get the full game (not likely anytime soon considering there's so much snow that the pathways through remind of the trenches of WWI...), I will give you all some more information. As of right now though, The Punisher looks pretty interesting. Cheers, ~Mike
