PAPI OVIEDO - ENCUENTRO ENTRE SONEROS -
Eastern Cuba: traditional acoustic son

This band was formed in 1995 by 10 excellent musicians headed by Papi Oviedo after he left his key role as song-writer and tres player with Elio Revé. Papi is the son of another renowned Cuban tres player, Isaac Oviedo. Papi, now in his late 50's, plays acoustic traditional son using tres, guitar, contrabajo (acoustic bass), tumbadores, bongo, maracas, guiro, two trumpets and two vocalists.

As well as playing with Elio Revé, Papi has previously been with Típica Habanera,
Bolero Enrique Perez, Abelerdo Barros and Estrella de Chocolate.
