SON 14 - CUBANIA
-
Havana,
Cuba: son, bolero
'Son 14 are the most
important musicians in Latin America for cultivating the son.' Frank
Fernandez (musician and critic, Havana)
'Stands out as authoritatative .. attractively sawtoothed vocals of El Tiburón
and a raging horn section .. one of the best examples I've heard outside the
purpose built allstar projects.'
Venue magazine, UK
Their sonero (vocalist), Eduardo Morales, better known as Tiburón (Shark!),
is 'one of the few who took the seed of son from Cuba's eastern Oriente province
to Havana and the rest of the world without the son losing its flavour'. Felix
Valera Miranda (musician, sonero and director of Grupo Familia Valera
Miranda, Santiago de Cuba)
