While the fishing is what brings many people people to the area, there are other attractions in and around Campbell River. There are many museums, galleries, and shops that will occupy your spare time.

The Museum at Campbell River has an extensive collection. The collection reflects the art, social, and industrial history of Northern Vancouver Island. The Museum Shop offers items for souvenir hunters and serious collectors alike. On Quadra Island ( just a 10 minute ferry ride away ), at Cape Mudge, is the Kwakiutl Museum with a fine collection that reflects the history and traditions of the Kwakiutl people. Also on Cape Mudge is the lighthouse, built in 1898, which has helped guide many mariners into Discovery Passage.

On the banks of the Campbell River you will find, "Above Tide", a B.C. Heritage attraction. This is the home of Ann and Roderick Haig-Brown located on 20 acres of green space. Roderick Haig-Brown was a writer and a conservationist known for his well written books and his great understanding of the outdoors.

In downtown Campbell River you will want to visit the Tidemark Theatre, the "pink building". The Tidemark annually hosts high quality cultural events such as theatre, musicals, and art shows. Throughout the area you will find many artists at work in their galleries painting and carving.

Campbell River offers excellent shopping with many fine gift shops and galleries and larger stores for everyday needs (perfect for stocking up on your supplies for a camping or fishing trip).

And don't forget that every Saturday and Sunday Holiday Night (April thru October) there is auto racing at Saratoga Speedway.
