John Chang and Allison Lu selected the Ricmond area for their winery as it would be close to the rich fruit producing areas of Delta and not too far from the Okanagan. The winery is also close to the Vancouver airport
John comes from Taiwan where he grew up in his Grandmother's house, where one room was set aside for making fruit wines. The style of Blossoms wines reflects the memory of his Grandmother's wines and his perception of the Asian palate. John has been working with wine consultant Ron Taylor.

Located on the North side of the Fraser river opposite The Fort Winery Company. George Flynn started farming his property in 1946 and at the age of 84 opened his winery in 2003.
His 20 acres orginally was composed of cranberriesand blueberries. George hired Dominic Rivard at The Fort Winery to produce the initial wines for Blue Heron. The wines include Blueberry, Strawberry and Cranberry, as well as dessert wines including
peach/apricot; also a very sweet, very smooth iced apple dessert wine.
Winemaker:
Derrick Power
Philosophy:
I personally prefer fruit wines because they appeal to everyone, the public does not have to be an expert wine connoisseur to know what they like, and it feels good to know that I am creating a wine that is used at so many events and parties filled with the joy of friends and family. Seeing the smiles on the faces when they taste the wines is such a reward.
There are now a few things in the works, I am interested in creating mead, kiwi wine, and possibly a currant, or flower wine. I would also like to develop an Iced Strawberry Dessert Wine. My personal favourite wines would be the White Cranberry, and the Fortified Blueberry.

Terroir french for soil refers to the type and quality of soil, and more broadly to the microclimate and overall environmental
conditions, of a vineyard or winemaking region. All these factors impart a unique flavour to the wine.
Red grapes need a longer gowning season than white grapes. Many BC wineries have vineyards in the southern Okanagan region for their red grapes.
