Lifeline Service and LinkUp Assistance

GCI offers local service discounts for qualified customers who may need some assistance in order to receive basic telephone service.
Lifeline Service
Lifeline Service provides an individual residential line, 911 service, access to operator services, long-distance (unless toll blocking is selected), access to directory assistance, and toll blocking. Under this plan, the $6.50 FCC Subscriber Line Charge is waived, and you also get a discounted basic phone line for $1.00. Toll blocking can be provided at no charge. Additional features available, but not covered under discount.
LinkUp Assistance
LinkUp Assistance offers a 50-percent discount (up to a maximum of $30) on applicable non-recurring service connection charges, including Premises Visit charges and Line Extension charges.
How Do You Qualify?
To qualify for Lifeline Service and LinkUp Assistance, you must be enrolled in one of the following programs:
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Food Stamps
Medicaid
Federal Public Housing Assistance
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)
Adult Public Assistance (which includes aid to the aged, blind and disabled)
Any other social services assistance program administered by the state or federal government. Customer can only have one phone line serving the residence.
