Search engine is cash engine for Democrats
WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Employees of U.S.-based search engine Google gave $207,650 to federal candidates for the 2004 elections -- virtually all of it to Democrats.
A USA Today analysis published Monday indicated 98 percent of the money went to Democrats, the most-lopsided giving of any of the top tech company donors.
Microsoft was the biggest tech donor, with its political action committee contributing $3.1 million last year, 60 percent to Democrats. Inktomi visiting, but no indexes Hello,
Inktomi is visiting me (1000 pages in a week), but only my main page is indexed in Yahoo!, AV, etc.
My page is:
http://www.scuba-necessities.com
Is anything but the flash inhibiting getting indexed? Or is it the main problem?
Thanks,
Tyler Summer of LOVE - No- Winter of SERPs are you going to New York City - be sure to wear a flower in your hair
Will you be at SEARCH ENGINES STRATEGIES - next week?
Will there be any earthshattering anouncements? Google Backlash - Beta MSN new Algorithms Different Emphasis The way search engines USED to be - before Google
(minus some to the SPAM)
Remember Bodykeyword frequency and Title keywords prioritization
MSN stategy is to NOT OutGoogle- Google - but to be an alternative for SERPs not relevant on Google
instead of trying a New Keyworded Search - just go to MSN
So - the opposite of backwards-links-keyword based Algorithms is to:
1- EXCLUDE link popularity alltogether
2- Filter out Porno and other Spam as best as possible
3- And have a Viable Alternative to Google - showing completely different SERPs and Site Preferences
 Google = Idiots I think I freaking found out what is wrong.
I have a "printer friendly" link on my forum for each post... Google might be counting this as double content! articleinsider.com????? Hello
Is anyone familiar with a site called articleinsider.com?
When reviewing my Google keyword listings recently, I found this site had not 1 but 2 top 10 listings for over 2 dozen keywords I was targeting! When I checked out the site it purported to be a depository for a collection of experts on a wide variety of subjects posting their articles to the site. I reviewed the URLs that were ranking top 10 for the keywords only to find the so-called expert in the field was one of our competitor's salespeople and with each of several articles built around each keyword phrase was a link to the competitor's site!
When I reviewed the "so called expert's" credentials I found no professional memberships, advanced degrees, publications or any type of scientific or technical background at all. Rather there was a list of her favorite books , movies and her cat's name. What a scam this is!!!!
What I am wondering is can just anyone be an expert on this site? Or is a bribe necessary. And why on earth would Google not delist such an obviously shady site?
Has anyone else experience with this site? Moving +/- 999 positions every 20 minutes! We have been in a constant struggle to get listed in Google since 2002. Yahoo has always had us at #1 & #2 position for our search term. Now, Friday, just for the heck of it I do a search on G for our term. We are #1 and #2! We are also very high up for our secondary terms. I almost fell out of my chair. 20 minutes later... we are completely gone again. Then an hour later, we are back. It has done this for the last 3 days. You can search, wait a few minutes and then refresh the browser for completely different results. Any ideas what is google doing? Are these new results going to stay or is there just bug floating around? Google doing a dance? http://66.102.7.99
Check the results from this google owned IP and compare it to Google.Com WTF - google's results are broken .. I have a few questions guys...
1) My forum has never done anything wrong, such as cloaking or anything of this nature. So it's not on my end in terms of anything wrong that is done... I have been doing SEO for a while... so I know what is right and what is wrong... but this one baffles me..
2) I have roughly 10,500 backlinks in Yahoo and MSN and just under 200 or so in Google (because google undercounts them).
Why is it not showing up under the keyword "sqlspace" the website is sqlspace.com ? It ranks well under certian posts and stuff.. but just not the main site? Some datacenters show it as #1 (where it belongs.. as it's the sites name) others don't show it at all... instead listing press releases to the site??
I know it's not banned... but why sandbox a legimate site and instead link to a press release issued by the website? Yahoo and MSN show the proper results... it's just that Google's are broken... as I have been saying for a while now... for the past few weeks I have had to go to Yahoo or MSN to find the website I was looking for... Google can't seem to find the proper results. Beginner looking for advice Hello, this is my first post!
I'm looking for advice on SEO for my website:
www.scuba-necessities.com
I'm indexed on Google (visitors declining lately), and so I've been trying to get reciprocal links like crazy over the past few days. PR on my domain is 2, 3 on a bunch of my inner pages. 1s on the rest.
I believe I'm indexed ok on MSN--Where I get most of my hits, but I could always improve.
Inktomi (Yahoo, I believe), has visited me twice (about 40-50 times each) since I submitted all my main pages to it last month. Still no results except my opening page which has been there for a while. Can someone help me out here in getting indexed?
I'm trying to get indexed in DMOZ. Does anyone have some good suggestions?
I know there are some things to improve.
Anyways, please help me out. It would be much appreciated.
Tyler Grass roots submissions? For reasons I don't fully understand, my unique, informative, useful, popular and well-liked site has yet to be accepted or rejected in DMOZ. I've got another month before I can mention it in the DMOZ forums (It's been 5 since my last query already.)
Two different fans of my site have asked why it's not in DMOZ - I explain "because they haven't gotten around to it yet.". They ask why I don't submit again. "Because I'm worried they'll take it as spamming." They then ask if they can submit it themselves, and I quickly say "No, please don't." fearing - once again - the spammer label.
Now that I think about it, should I stop them? Would support for the site from additional submitters help or hinder here? If I mentioned I was looking for support, I know of about 20 regular users who would probably submit me right away - is this good, bad, or irrelevant?
Sites that do not provide valuable information and are younger than mine have appeared in the same category - I don't understand why mine is simply passed over.
I just suspect that I'm going to ask my question next month, someone will say they are checking on it, and I'll have to wait 6 months before anything can be done again, because I'm not doing something that I should be, I'm not being aggressive enough, or even worse, because I haven't bribed an insider to grease the skids for me.

(Optimization Tips & Techniques) Hi this happened to one of my site, this guy was pointing his domain to my site, & google was indexing my content to his domain, so my site www.site.com/page1.aspx was being seen by search engines as www.forwardingdomain.page1.aspx & also www.site/page1.aspx., i have heard that eventually Search engines will discard the pointing domain, but, i doubt there will be any damage to your domain or rankings.
I contacted the domain register ( verisign etc ) , they cant help I contacted the the whois register of the domain & after a month of so the guy corrected it.
QUOTE(clubmilwaukee @ Feb 15 2005, 09:20 PM) So, a local business here in town has set some kind of redirect on their domain so that it gets forwarded to my site. This is less objectively wierd than it sounds, since my site is "guide" or "info-portal" for businesses of the type, and he has redirected to the specific page on my site which reviews (favorably) his business.
I am, however, very worried about some search engine following his domain name and associating it with MY content. I don't know how that works, exactly, but I'm pretty panicked right now, since I've spent almost a year climbing the SERPs to a point where I'm #1 or #2 for every phrase and keyword I've targeted.
I've already asked them to stop the redirect, but I need some input understanding how this could affect (or may have already AFFECTED) my domain in the SEs.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Edit: Just to add a little more specifics, the redirect is currently working as such:
companydomain.com redirects to mywebsite.com/companyname.htm

QUOTE(OldWelshGuy @ Feb 15 2005, 12:51 PM) HI David,
this is really a piece of string question, in as much as there is no absolute answer.
How many is enough? How much business do you need? What exactly are you trying to achieve from these inclusions?
There are plenty of free directories that you can submit to if you are just looking for backlinks. However, a directory like kelly search (which is free) is likely to get you traffic to your site, and qualified traffic at that!
Most niche directories tend to be free, and I would exhaust that avenue before looking to pay for inclusion into a directory.
Thanks I will take a look. Can anyone share a directory testimonial where they receive a lot of traffic from certain directories? Thanks. clubmilwaukee: Ah! Help! Please! I'm not even sure how many mods will be there. I'll be there Mon. and Tuesday nights, but that's it. Usually though, Randfish, various people hook up and go out to various places. We've had some very large groups at times, but personally, I find that more trouble than it's worth unless it's all reserved in advance.
