Bubbles from the AbyssIt is like Ground Hogs Day, the weather will be perfect for diving this weekend, the only difference is that the tides are in our favour and the visibility should be better. Because there is so many divers booking in for the weekend we will be tight on hire equipment so make sure you book if you require any. We did run out of gear (particularly Tanks) last weekend and it will be the same thing this weekend. We have a couple of places left on next weekends overnight trip to Jervis Bay. For only $l90 the trip includes a nights accommodation, a double boat dive (one on the Firefly), and all dive gear supplied. If you want to go please book in soon. The March Schedule is up so check it out at www.abyss.com.au/buddy.html with some of the more exciting things including:

Tip of the Week How to Choose a Tank Check the capacity. More air is better, of course, but you've got to have an intelligent balance between capacity, physical size, weight and buoyancy. Bottom line: there is such a thing as a tank that's too big. Aluminium V Steel. For similar volumes both tank weigh fairly similar but you need to carry considerable more lead with Aluminium. Aluminium tanks have the advantage of been cheaper and do not have the inherent risk of rusting a steel tank does. The rate of failure from their annual test is much higher with a aluminium than a steel. Personally I much prefer steel. Choosing a tank that fits your size, air consumption, buoyancy and style of diving can make a world of difference on your diving enjoyment. Don't rush into buying a tank until you know what you want. Trivia In 1878 Henry Fleuss invents the first practical self-contained dive apparatus using the closed-circuit principle-oxygen in a reservoir replaces oxygen consumed by the diver while a caustic soda absorbs the carbon dioxide.
