Rice-See to perform in faculty recital

Wednesday, February 09, 2005

JOHNSON CITY - Pianist Dr. Lynn Rice-See will present a Faculty Recital at East Tennessee State University on Friday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Mathes Hall.

Rice-See, a professor of music in ETSU's Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences, will present the "Aria" by Bach and Siloti, "Carnaval" by Schumann and sonatas by Beethoven and Scriabin. The work by Scriabin will be accompanied by astronomical photographs selected by Dr. Gary Henson of ETSU's Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geology.

Rice-See has been a member of the ETSU music faculty since 1989. Since that time, she has made two concert tours to Europe, performing in Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic, where she appeared three times with the Janacek Philharmonic.

With mezzo-soprano Sharon Mabry of Austin Peay State University, she recorded a compact disc of works for solo piano and voice and piano, including two works by Johnson City resident and composer Kenton Coe. This CD will be available for purchase at the concert.

The concert is free and open to the public, although donations will be accepted for Department of Music programs.

For more information or for special assistance or seating for those with disabilities, call the Department of Music at (423) 439-4270.
