May 1, 2004 , Beamsville, Ontario - Malivoire's Ann Sperling was named Ontario Winemaker of the Year at the Ontario Wine Awards held in Niagara-on-the-Lake last night. A 15-member judging panel, made up of respected wine writers and educators, as well as the Board of the Ontario Wine Society, made the selection. In his remarks OWA founder, Tony Aspler, commented that the Winemaker of the Year award is given in recognition of overall contribution to the Ontario wine industry and for a body of work that has raised the profile of that industry. For the year-ended March 31, 2003, Vincor reported record net sales of $434.6 million and record net income of $39.9 million.
