COMMON INSTALLATION PROBLEMS

1. Pump operates but no bubbles.

  • Brown Lead is not connected to Positive side of the battery.

  • Battery is not fully charged.

2. Suction cups do not stick to bottom of tank.

  • Use a very slick ceramic tile (approximately 20cm by 20 cm) for the suction cups.
    The weight of the tile will keep the KeepAlive in place.

3. Does not appear to operate in fresh water.

  • Bubbles are extremely difficult to see in fresh water.
    Bubbles are easy to see in salt water because bubbles illuminate the salt. Hold hand in front of the KeepAlive and watch bubbles collect on the back of your hand.

4. Pump running does not pump water.

  • Pump is air-locked. Clean filter.

REMEMBER THIS IMPORTANT TIP

Control the water current in your container with the AIR CONTROL VALVE.

The more air added with your valve, the slower your water current will be.

Adjust water flow with the AIR CONTROL VALVE, until the fish are schooling and in a stationary position in the tank.

Adjusting the water current for the species of your fish will keep them in prime condition.

If water flow is too fast, fish will tire quickly.

OPERATION OF THE
KEEPALIVE AIR CONTROL CENTER

VISUAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SALTWATER AND FRESH WATER: In saltwater, bubbles are readily seen due to the illumination of the salt. In freshwater, almost nothing can be seen. The dust sized bubbles are extremely hard to see. Put your hand in the water and watch the millions of micro-fine bubbles gathering on your skin.

Foam on the surface is fish waste, and can be skimmed off. Foam does not interfere with the KeepAlive aeration process.

Control your water flow with the Air Control Valve..

Adjust the speed of water with the Air Control, so fish school in a stationary position. Opening the valve produces larger bubbles as well as the micro-bubbles, and slows the water flow. Closing the valve will increase water flow and the larger bubbles begin to disappear. Each fish species will have their own swimming speed, so water flow must be adjusted for each species.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
FOR FRESH WATER PLEASE READ!

 This product works equally well in both fresh and salt water. You may have seen a picture or display of a unit in salt water producing large numbers of visible bubbles. KeepAlive, operating in salt water, provides a much more dramatic VISUAL display than fresh water.

To ensure that your Infusor is operating properly, LISTEN for the sound of air at the Air Control Valve.

IN FRESH WATER, the Infusor produces many sizes of bubbles. The larger  bubbles, although highly visible, do very little in oxygenating the water. They rise too quickly. The Infusor produces millions of dust size bubbles that remains suspended in the water longer and are virtually invisible to the naked eye, unless you place a strong light on the water  and observe from the side, as in an aquarium.

A SIMPLE PROCEDURE TO ENSURE THAT YOUR UNIT IS OPERATING PROPERLY, IS TO PLACE YOUR HAND IN THE WATER AND WATCH THE BUBBLES COLLECT.

REMEMBER THAT THE BROWN LEAD GOES TO THE POSITIVE (+) SIDE OF THE BATTERY.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL
KEEPALIVE PUMPS AND ACCESSORIES

Operation of the KeepAlive Air Inlet Valve: When your unit is provided with a 1/8" air check valve, install it in line next to the Air Control Center with a small portion of the air hose provided.

It is recommended that all threaded fittings must have no less than pipe thread tape sealant.

ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK FOR LEAKS!

THRU-HULL MODELS

To install the thru-hull models we recommend you follow the livewell diagram and instructions on pages 11 and 13 as a general guide. There are too many different hull and livewell designs for only one type of installation. KeepAlive components were designed for the angler to create a custom livewell.

Tips

  • Always use a ball valve at the thru-hull pickup.

  • Always use strainer KA102 to prevent pump from clogging.

  • Clean strainer frequently.

  • Be sure drain size is large enough to accommodate pump.

No-LokTM INSTALLATION

No-Lok Models with pump must be tilted at a 45° angle to allow air to escape by using KA105 elbows with pump output and No-Lok noozzles facin upward for the No-Lok to work properly (See Figure 1).

Next, install the No-Lok relief valve valve. Frill a 1 1/16" hole above the water line in the livewell as shown in Figure 1.

Slide the thru-hull in the hole and thenthread nut on ¾ of the way. Hold the No-Lok relief valve until threads tighten into the relief valve. Tighten the thru-hull nut and connect ¾ I.D. relief hose barb, then to No-LOk barb on processor. Use staniless steel hose clamps.

The No-Lok is now fully operational.

CONVERSION KIT INSTALLATION


Figure 2

1. Remove livewell pump.
2. Remove 4 screws and separate pump from base.
3. Discard the 4 original screws and original O ring.
4. (A) Very carefully place pump upside sown, lay the first new O ring in place on pump bottom.
(B) Next place processor in place while aligning the 4 screw holes. The Optional No-Lok should always face the same way as the pump output nozzle (See Figure 1 and instructions for the No-Lok).
(C) Lay the second O ring in place on the processor.
(D) Next, place pump base on top, and align the 4 screw holes.
(E) Insert the 4 new 1 ¾" screws and tighten evenly.
5. Check for leaks. A simple test is to block all openings except one, place to lips, and suck in. If suction does not hold, there is a leak.
6. Reinstall your transformed oxygen infusor.
7. Cut a 2" hole above the waterline o livewell, and install Air Control.
8. When in doubt, check with your dealer of a professional.!

RECIRCULATING KIT INSTALLATION

1. Pump must be tilted at a 45° angle on completed installation so all air can escape upwards.
2. Drill a 1 1/16" hole for the pump base.
3. Measure and cut off excess threads. Leave enough length to attach strainer. Insert pump and tighten.
4 Drill a 1⅞" hole higher than the pump outlet and instal the Directional Discharge provided. Use a waterproof sealant and tighten.
5. Install a smooth vinyl hose (not provided) beween Directional Discharge and pump. Hose I.D. is ¾" for KA700RK, and 1⅛" for KA1100RK.

TANK INSTALLATION

1. Adjust the lid twist locks to the desired tension.
2. Attach air hose firmly to the back of the black Air Control and the KeepAlive Oxygen Infusor.
3. Run pump leads though the hole next to the Air Control Center. Recommend and overhand knot in the wires before insering the wires through the hole. This will prevent pump from being pulled off the bottom of the tank.
4. Attach copper and s/s electrical clips to the wires.
5. Tanks with installed Hold Down Plates for Infusors on bottom of tank. Plates can be unscrewed and reversed to accept KA307 large filters.
To install KeepAlive Infusor, press the tab on the Hold Down Plate while inserting the KeepAlive Infusor base under the two clips on the Hold Down Plate.

OXYGEN REGULATOR

The American Healthcare FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator has been designed to provide a constant flow of oxygen from the cylinder, directly to the aerator or oxygen stone. To increase the oxygen flow, turn the selector knob from "0" to a setting of "1" through "11". Each oxygen regulator is equipped with an internal pressure relief valve that will prevent over-pressurization of the regulator. The American Healthcare FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator is specifically  designed for oxygen service only. Use of this regulator for gases other than compressed oxygen up to 2500 PSIG, is prohibited by American Healthcare and any user must assume all liabilities and consequences.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Wipe down with a clean, soft cloth. If contaminated, the regulator should be taken out of service immediately.

If your FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator is accidentally immersed in salt water, remove the red dust cover from the safety relief valve,  flush well with fresh water, and let dry before using again.

CONNECTION GUIDELINES

Never stand in front of a cylinder outlet or regulator when operating the cylinder valve. Remove the two protective covers from the 540 Valve Nipple and the Hose Barb before attempting to connect to a cylinder. DO NOT REMOVE THE 5/8" DIAMETER RED DUST COVER FROM THE SIDE OF THE REGULATOR NEXT TO THE HOSE BARB. IT IS THERE TO HELP PREVENT CONTAMINATION. REFER TO THE  SAFETY TIPS AND WARNINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. Be sure to properly inspect both the cylinder and regulator for any signs of grease and oil. If grease or oil is suspected or found, do not use this device.

SAFETY TIPS AND WARNINGS

1. Never use oil or grease with this oxygen regulator.

2. Never use oxygen around or near an open flame.

3. Never smoke in an area where oxygen is in use.

4. Never use oxygen near boat bilges or where gasoline fumes may be present.

5. Never use industrial oxygen from a cylinder without reducing the pressure through a regulator intended for that specific gas.

6. Never force connections that do not fit properly.

7. Never permit gases to suddenly enter a regulator.

8. Refill cylinders slowly to prevent excessive heat build-up and possible damage to cylinders.

9. Keep out of reach of children.

10. Always be sure that all fittings and threads are matched and properly for the gas intended.

11. Never use oxygen as a pressure source to clear an obstructed line or to operate pneumatic tools.

12. Always keep the oxygen cylinder secured.

Do not use organic-based thread sealant on any part of this regulator. This oxygen regulator is equipped with an internal relief valve designed to relieve excess pressure should the regulator malfunction. This relief valve is designed to operate only as a means of a warning signal. Should a malfunction occur, turn off the cylinder valve immediately and disconnect the regulator. Do not attempt to operate the oxygen regulator, unless you are properly trained.

CAUTION: Oxygen is a non-flammable gas, however, the presence of oxygen will drastically increase the rate of heat and combustion. Inspect for traces of oil, grease or any other type of contamination, or connection damage before operating. Failure to comply with these safety precautions can result in personal injury or property damage. Do not proceed to use until all equipment and components are correct for safe oxygen use.

CONNECTING A CGA 540 NUT AND NIPPLE INLET

1. Check to be sure that the valve on the cylinder is off.
2. In a clockwise direction, thread the regulator inlet nut onto the cylinder valve.
3. Tighten the inlet nut with the hand-wheel attached to the regulator.

OPENING/CLOSING THE CYLINDER VALVE

1. Before turning on the oxygen cylinder valve, check to be sure that the regulator is in the "0" position.
2. Stand behind the cylinder so that the cylinder is between you and the regulator. Remember: Never stand in front of a cylinder outlet or regulator when opening the cylinder valve.
3. Begin turning the cylinder valve counter-clockwise VERY SLOWLY to open the valve.
4. If you suspect a leak, turn the cylinder valve off and relieve the pressure by turning the flow selector knob clockwise and wait for the oxygen flow to stop. Then, turn the regulator off by turning the selector knob to the "0" position. Remove the regulator from the cylinder. Call your authorized
FISH-FLO2 Dealer.

LIMITED-LIFETIME REPLACEMENT WARRANTY

Because or the harsh unforeseen conditions that the FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator may be subjected to, the regulator is covered by a limited-lifetime warranty. If a problem or defect is found at any time and caused by any reason including, but not limited to, accidental damage and contamination, return the rhe regulator to American Healthcare and receive a new replacement FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator for $75.00 plus shipping. To qualify, all regulator parts must be included with the regulator and the the serial number must be legible.

You must first call American Healthcare at 1-888-567-7733 and give the customer service representative a valid credit card number and obtain a Replacement Regulator Authorization Number (RRA). This RRA  number must appear on the outside of the box containing the returned regulator. Any shipments received without an RRA number will be refused. A new replacement FISH-FLO2 Oxygen Regulator will be shipped out the next business day.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANY REPAIRS, OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY PARTS BE PERFORMED BY ANYONE EXCEPT American Healthcare.
