Learn more about careers at the State Department at www.careers.state.gov including registration for the April 23 Foreign Service Written Exam (FSWE). Deadlines for registration for the FSWE are March 23 for U.S. test sites and March 16 for overseas test sites.

U.S. Commitment to Women in the Middle East
As part of the U.S. commitment to advance freedom in the Arab world, the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) recognizes women’s issues as one of four pillars integral to reform in the region along with political, educational, and economic advancements. Of the $129 million that the U.S. has committed to MEPI, $9 million has been dedicated to the women's pillar thus far. [more]

The Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator has released a new newsletter. Topics include progress in making treatment available in the developing world, FDA approval of a a generic antiretroviral drug product,  USAID's work in India, and tackling HIV/AIDS in Botswana.

The U.S. Government is committed to relief and rebuilding efforts in tsunami-affected areas of South Asia. The most effective way people can help is by continuing to make cash contributions to humanitarian organizations that are conducting relief operations.
