Stocks meander with little change
NEW YORK Stock prices are narrowly mixed to begin the trading week. The Dow Jones industrial average is up ten points at ten-thousand-726. Gainers on the New York Stock Exchange hold a three-to-two lead over losers. The Nasdaq Composite Index has lost a point and a-half at two-thousand-85.And the Standard-and Poor's 500 Stock Index is up a fraction at 12-hundred and three.Trading on the New York Stock Exchange during the first two hours totaled 452 (m) million shares. Volume on the Nasdaq Market came to 658 (m) million shares.Perhaps the most significant news to the market was the release of President Bush's two and a-half (t) trillion dollar budget proposal. One analyst says the dollar is rising on hopes that the massive federal budget deficit is being addressed by the spending plan. Also helping the tone, crude oil prices have dipped nearly a dollar in New York.
