Guided sea-bass and sea-trout fishing in the Oslo Fjord

The sea-bass fishing here in Norway should be considered one of the most explosive forms of salt water fishing. Finding the rod breaking action should only be trusted to the experts. Well, Netfish.no has turned to the world's leader and Norwegian record holder Dr Jonathan Colman.

Dr Colman has an intimate knowledge of the ecosystem, environment and especially fishing grounds within the inner Oslo Fjord. He is a very experienced salt and fresh water guide from the Northeast USA. Already in the mid-1980s, Jonathan was guiding fly fishermen after trout and salmon in the wild streams and lakes of central Maine. He then continued guiding in the rich waters off Cape Cod Massachusetts for striped bass and blue fish. After moving to Norway, Jonathan developed his expertise as a scientist working at the biology inst., University of Oslo and an extremely avid fisherman in the Oslo fjord.

On average, Jonathan has fished over 30 hours a week after trout and sea bass routinely during the last 12 years. Jonathan offers 4-hour or 6-hour trips with an open boat along the outer islands of Oslo and Akershus. The time for departure can be arranged in advance to best fit your schedule. Jonathan can provide equipment if necessary for no additional charge. Weekdays are kr. 2,000 per 4-hr trip or kr. 3,000 per 6-hr trip for up to two people, and weekends are kr. 2,500 and kr. 3,500, respectively. For groups of 3 or more, the price needs to be pre-arranged. When fishing for European sea bass, you will also be welcome to participate in an ongoing scientific project, taking samples and tagging

As with all large fjord systems knowing where to find the fish is the key. With out the help of Doctor J. Colman we would have struggled to find the schools of fish. Inner Oslo fjord is a mixture of islands and shallow reefs. The varied sea bed and changing currents are ideal environments for fish. The fist sign of this I noticed when were night fishing. Cod, Herring, sea-trout and of course Sea-bass gathered on the out going tide. They gorged in the currents formed by the channels that ran between the main land and "our" island. To our utter shock we even caught herring in the midnight moon shine.

While you consider planning your next adventure in the nation's capital don't look past the expert for help. Fishing with one of the top biologists will not only be a learning experience but you will tackle some of the true treasures our fishing grounds have to offer.

If you are interested in joining Doctor Colman for a days fishing on one of the most productive fjords then just drop us a line at POST@NETFISH.NO
