ASSISI ORVIETO SPOLETO FOLIGNO

ASSISIAfter a short panoramic tour of the city's northern part, we will leave Rome via the "Sun Route" motorway. Our first stop will be Orvieto, a well-kept, small medieval town famous for its cathedral. We will spend the day visiting Umbria, rich in vineyards, olive groves and quaint villages on top of the hills. The itinerary is full of charming medieval cities: Spoleto (world-famous for the "Festival dei Due Mondi"), Trevi, Foligno, Spello and the most celebrated: Assisi, the mystic city of St. Francis. The city, still surrounded by ancient walls, lays on top of the green slopes of Mount Subasio. Its rose-stone buildings, the winding narrow streets, the noble palaces, the balconies full of flowers: everything in Assisi will hold you spellbound. We will also visit the Church of St. Mary of the Angels and the Basilica of St. Francis, with their masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue. It will be a pleasure to wander about, browsing in the small artisan shops of the old city. We will then break for lunch in a typical restaurant and afterwards make our way back to Rome.

Please Note: The travel agency would like to inform its clientele that the small city of Assisi is located on top of a hill and for this reason, its streets are mostly narrow and steep
