Data Center Construction Project Manager

Position located in Mountain View, CA.

Google is looking for an experienced construction project manager to provide project management and oversight of construction of new Google data center facilities. This position will work to select construction contractors for projects, will provide day-to-day oversight and interface with construction firms, and will be responsible for providing reports to management and other groups on the progress of activity. This individual will be expected to closely track progress of construction-related projects from inception to completion and will need to communicate progress to both internal and external stakeholders. They will act as the primary interface between the construction contractors, architecture and design team members, and other teams within Google and will be the primary point of contact in the permitting process for new projects.

Requirements:

  • At least ten years experience with data center construction projects including new facility construction, upgrades of existing facilities, and other related construction work; construction of at least three large-scale (more than 100,000 square foot) data center facilities from inception to completion.
  • An undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • An ability and aptitude to work with construction firms on a regular basis; an understanding of standard practices in the construction industry; and a good familiarity with basic building code requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills, the ability to manage both projects and project team members seamlessly, and the ability to work across organizational boundaries to accomplish goals.
  • A good understanding of advanced electrical and mechanical systems including switchgear, backup generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, security monitoring systems, and fire detection/suppression systems.
  • A willingness and ability to travel frequently (25% of time) to site locations around the country and around the world to monitor overall progress on construction projects.

Executive Protection Specialist

This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Security & Safety, the Executive Protection Specialist will work with Google's executives, assistants and event planners to ensure the protection of Google assets. Travel of up to 50% will include security/logistics advances, protective details, and special event coverage. Ideal candidates will have full-time experience with executive protection such as private sector assignments, Military, Secret Service, Marshals Service, Diplomatic Security Service or other relevant history. Other key skills and abilities:

  • Minimum education of a BS/BA degree required.
  • Trained in protective driving.
  • Knowledge of surveillance, counter-surveillance and technical surveillance countermeasures.
  • Understanding of advance security planning.
  • Experience coordinating outsourced services for security support.
  • Certified in first-aid, CPR and use of AEDs by a recognized national or international organization.
  • Knowledge of threat assessment and selection of appropriate controls.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.

Facilities Coordinator  

This position is based in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilities:
    • Establish vendor contracts for services, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing maintenance, life safety, janitorial service and supplies, beverages and snacks, and others.
    • Conduct orientation of new hires regarding office procedures and facilities.

Lead Chef  

This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

One of Silicon Valley's hottest and fastest growing internet companies is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Chef to run one of several onsite Cafes. We see a quick and creative thinker who knows how to have fun while cooking! This is a corporate café that runs like a restaurant. The cafes will "compete" with each other for participation; therefore each Chef will produce organic, high quality meals to attract Google employees. You are responsible for all aspects of the kitchen: menus, ingredients, staff supervision, financial tasks, equipment maintenance, etc.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years as a sous chef and 1-2 years experience as an Executive.
  • Chef preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with ethnic and vegetarian cuisines using organic products.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
The Lead Chef oversees all aspects of the café. We are looking for the Chef to creatively prepare meals with organic, high quality ingredients and creativity. There are multiple cafes, and you will work with your peers to ensure the overall food program at Google is the best it can possibly be.

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in the restaurant, hotel, and/or corporate dining food service industry.
  • Minimum of four (4) years college education and bachelor's degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall success of the multiple food service operations within Google, promoting our organic and healthy culture.

You will provide resources and training to the management team, developing Managers for the purpose of promoting from within, using succession planning as a tool.
