DIVING ACCIDENT REPORTING

As part of its mission to improve dive safety, DAN collects and reports on diving fatalities and injuries.

To this end, DAN SEAP is trying to collect information of dive accidents in the Asia-Pacific Region. It is important that divers assist us in this pursuit by notifying us of any serious dive accident that they become aware of in this Region. If you hear of a dive accident, we would be grateful if you would complete a brief report form and send it to us. If you contact us at info@danseap.org we can send you the DAN SEAP Diving Accident Report Form. Alternatively you can download it from here, complete it and send it back to us.

Diving Incident Monitoring Study (DIMS)

The DIMS is an on-going study that collects information about any diving incident, whether or not harm occurs. There are many more "incidents" than there are accidents and we can learn much from these. For example, a BC power inflator may malfunction and cause the diver to ascend prematurely. This may not cause harm but it is important to know when it occurs so that possible faults and / or trends can be identified. The DIMS is conducted by Dr. Chris Acott and DAN SEAP encourages divers to participate in the study.
