Weather

Central Russia, Moscow, St. Petersburg and the rest

So, when is the best time to come here? Sure, in summer, or between April and October. White seasons and Christmas may be also OK too. If you are planning to visit Russia in winter or spring, take care about warm clothes. Also take a special cream and wear shoes with high sole (1 - 1,5 centimeters). If your visit is in summer time or fall, prepare to warm days and rains.

From the beginning of May up to the end of September (October sometimes). In October it's starts raining, and November is really terrible period. And December too. Starting from the end of January it's much more sunshine, especially in Central and Southern Russia, not in St.Petersburg and North regions. The temperature is in -5 ~ -10C range, this is Russian White seasons, when both entertainment and recreation infrastructures are ready to accept visitors in with low-season discounts.

Russia is the only one country, where people could feel differences between fall, winter, spring and summer. Sunshine, day temperature, cold and warm winds and cyclones make an influence on mind, soul and lifestyle. Now it's not true that our winters always cold. Global warming take an effect, and only the at the 2003 Christmas temperature outside was -27C. In several years before as in the past it was a lot of snow and -5C only or so.

Short summer is not so warm in North-West and Moscow regions. It's a lot of rains and storms, and average maximum +26-30C reached only in the middle of the July. This is clear to Siberian and Southern regions, accept the fact that humidity is much lower there.

Starting from the end of February up to April, people celebrate Russian spring. Here are several pages about this time.

NATURAL DISASTERS

There are occasional occurrences of flooding in Russia, mainly in Siberia in early Spring, and earthquakes in the North Caucasus and in the far eastern region. This flooding picture in Moscow is a journalist trick, but it's true. A lot of water after the July storm came fast, but disappear in a few hours. However, summer downpours are really extreme attractions.
