B. Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1   Fly to Beijing

Take your transpacific flight from San Francisco to Beijing. Participants departing from other cities or countries would require arrival in Beijing next day to meet the group.

 

Day 2   Arrive Beijing (D)

Arrive Beijing. Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your 5 star Kunlun Hotel or same class.

 

Day 3    Beijing (B, L, D)

Visit the world's largest plaza -- Tiananmen Square. The magnificent royal court Forbidden City offers endless treasures and stories. Continue to the Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace, the symbols of the country.

 

Day 4      Beijing (B, L, D)

Great Wall, bordering the Gobi Desert. Walk on the Great Wall is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Also visit the Ming Imperial Tombs. An authentic Peking Duck farewell dinner party.

 

Day 5      Beijing / Wuhan (B, L, D)

Fly to Wuhan, the largest city in the center of China and homeport of most Yangtze River cruise ships. After some excursion activities include visits to the Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake and Guiyuan Temple, etc.. board a deluxe cruise ship and set sail.

 

Day 6    Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)

Participate in the cultural and entertainment activities on board while the cruise ship is sailing through the most fertilized land of the middle reaches of the Yangtze. Lectures on various topics would be arranged. Cruise directors welcome any suggestions.

 

Day 7   Yangtze River Cruise - Three Gorges Dam (B, L, D)

Excursion to Three Gorges Dam, the giant hydro-project just put into operation in June 2003, in Yichang City. Stop for a closer look at the world's largest man-made architecture comparable to the Great Wall. Atop Jar Ridge, you could have a bird's view of the Three Gorges Dam site and 5 level ship locks.

 

Day 8    Yangtze River Cruise - Shennong Stream or Lesser Three Gorges (B, L, D)

Excursion to Shennong Stream. Entering the first gorge, Qutang Gorge this morning, you will see the high peaks, sheer cliffs, and the narrow "gates" of the waterway when the great river still in the upper reaches shaping. Then we come to Wu Gorge, the most beautiful part of the Three Gorges. Stopping at Badong, a small town by the river, at 10 am and transferring to the local boat at Shennong Stream, you will explore ancient plank road remains along the river, mysterious ancient suspended coffins suspended high on the cliff, wild monkeys running under the primitive bushes. (The excursion is subject to change to Lesser Three Gorges, with similar scenery and activities, decided by the captain)

 

Day 9    Yangtze River Cruise - Fengdu (B, L, D)

Excursion to Fengdu, the "city of ghost". The scaring statues describing the afterlife were sculpted to terrify the illiterate. But you will have fun here. Back to ship, the captain's farewell banquet is waiting for you.

 

Day 10     Yangtze River Cruise / Chongqing / Xian   (B, L, D)

The cruiser arrives in Chongqing at 9 AM. Disembark the ship and have a city tour in the mountainous city. A unique local "hot-pot" lunch is included. Fly to Xian, an ancient capital for 13 dynasties and now a modern metro city. Transfer to your 5 star ANA Grand Castle Hotel or same class.

Day 11       Xian (B, L, D)

Today, we set off to view China's first emperor's 6,000 life-size Terra-cotta Soldiers and their horses, chariots, and weapons, "the eighth wonder of the world". Also visit legendary Wild Goose Pagoda and the ancient City Wall. If time permits, visit Banpo Neolithic Museum. A marvelous Tang Dynasty dumpling dinner and show.

 

Day 12       Xian / Shanghai (B, L, D)

Transfer to the airport for fight to Shanghai. The Asia's financial center. Meet at the airport and transfer to your Peace Hotel or same class.

 

Day 13    Shanghai (B, L, D)

Stroll along the world famous Bund waterfront, where your guide will show you the landmarks along China's Wall Street and one of the world's highest buildings in the newly developed land across the bustling Huangpu River. In the afternoon, shop along the Old City Town and Nanjing Road – Shanghai's past and present center business districts.

Day 14   Shanghai / Departure (B)

It is time to say goodbye to your guide. Transfer to the airport and fly homebound. Land package only customers will arrange your own transfer and flight for departure.

 

C. Tour Costs

April, May, Sept and Oct:

all inclusive; $2,268 per person, double.

Land package only: US$1,668 per person, double.

Single hotel room and cruise cabin supplement: US$950.


March, June, July, August and November:

all inclusive; $2,068 per person, double.

Land package only: US$1,468 pp, double.

Single hotel room and cruise cabin supplement: US$820.



D. Included

  1. Round trip international air between China and San Francisco (sample rates);
  2. Hotel accommodations (5 star or best in town), double occupancy;
