B. Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1   Fly to Shanghai

Take your transpacific flight from San Francisco to Shanghai. Participants departing from other cities or countries would require arrival at Shanghai next day to meet the group.

 

Day 2   Arrive Shanghai (D)

Arrive Beijing. Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your 5 star Sheraton Huating Hotel or same class.

 

Day 3    Shanghai (B, L, D)

Visit Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Garden. Stroll along the world famous Bund waterfront, where your guide will show you the landmarks along China's Wall Street and one of the world's highest buildings in the newly developed land across the bustling Huangpu River. In the afternoon, shop along the Old City Town and Nanjing Road – Shanghai's past and present center business districts.

Day 4      Shanghai / Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) (B, L, D)

Fly from Shanghai to Huangshan. Picked up at Huangshan airport and transferred to Taoyuan Hotel at the foot of the mountain. Visit the Hot Springs and Cloud Valley. 

Day 5      Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) (B, L, D)

Driving along the zigzagging road, you are carried to the mountains. Take a cable car to the top of the mountain, you will marval as anyone the unique pine trees, fogs, water falls, rocks and peaks formatted by Nature. Visit the Lotus Peak and Jade Screen Peak. Check into your Shilin Hotel.

 

Day 6      Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) (B, L, D)

Watch the sunrise at early morning is a traditional item for Yellow Mountain visitors. Continue your hiking and exporation along the man-made sightseeing plank roads on the sheer cliffs this morning. Get off the mountain this afternoon and visit the Bamboo seas and traditional residence as shown in the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Check into Taoyuan Hotel.

 

Day 7      Huangshan (Yellow Mountains) / Wuhan / Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)

Fly to Wuhan, the largest city in the center of China and homeport of most Yangtze River cruise ships. After some excursion activities include visits to the Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake and Guiyuan Temple, etc.. Board the deluxe cruise ship and set sail in the later afternoon.

Day 8    Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)

Participate in the cultural and entertainment activities on board while the cruise ship is sailing through the most fertilized land of the middle reaches of the Yangtze. Lectures on various topics would be arranged. Cruise directors welcome any suggestions.

 

Day 9   Yangtze River Cruise - Three Gorges Dam (B, L, D)

Excursion to Three Gorges Dam, the giant hydro-project just put into operation in June 2003, in Yichang City. Stop for a closer look at the world's largest man-made architecture comparable to the Great Wall. Atop Jar Ridge, you could have a bird's view of the Three Gorges Dam site and 5 level ship locks.

 

Day 10    Yangtze River Cruise - Shennong Stream or Lesser Three Gorges (B, L, D)

Excursion to Shennong Stream. Entering the first gorge, Qutang Gorge this morning, you will see the high peaks, sheer cliffs, and the narrow "gates" of the waterway when the great river still in the upper reaches shaping. Then we come to Wu Gorge, the most beautiful part of the Three Gorges. Stopping at Badong, a small town by the river, at 10 am and transferring to the local boat at Shennong Stream, you will explore ancient plank road remains along the river, mysterious ancient suspended coffins suspended high on the cliff, wild monkeys running under the primitive bushes. (The excursion is subject to change to Lesser Three Gorges, with similar scenery and activities, decided by the captain)

 

Day 11  Yangtze River Cruise - Fengdu (B, L, D)

Excursion to Fengdu, the "city of ghost". The scaring statues describing the afterlife were sculpted to terrify the illiterate. But you will have fun here. Back to ship, the captain's farewell banquet is waiting for you.

 

Day 12     Yangtze River Cruise / Chongqing / Guilin (B, L, D)

The cruiser arrives in Chongqing at 9 AM. Disembark the ship and have a city tour in the mountainous city. A unique local "hot-pot" lunch is included. Then take a flight to Guilin, a city famous for its green hills, clear waters, fantastic caves and spectacular rocks. Transfer to 5 star Royal Garden Hotel or same class.

 

Day 13   Guilin (B, L, D)

Full day cruise on Li River, which is limpid with crystal water. The boat trip on the river from Guilin to Yangshuo covers a distance of 83 kilometers. This section of the river makes a unique traditional Chinese Painting with its clear water and clusters of pinnacles. You can get some souvenirs from the open market in Yangshuo, which is the destination of the cruise.

Day 14     Guilin/ Hong Kong (B)

Visit Trunk Hill, Diecai Hill and Reed Flute Cave. Enjoy the unique Karst formations on the beautiful Guilin landscapes. Transfer to the airport for fight to Hong Kong. Arrive in Hong Kong and transfer by shuttle bus to your Royal Pacific Tower by the Victoria Harbor. Take the rest of the day as your free time.

 

Day 15    Hong Kong

A half-day tour includes a ride to the Victoria Peak overlooking the Hong Kong harbor; Repulse Bay, Hong Kong's most popular beach; a former pirate town Aberdeen and Stanley Market, world famous shopping street. Afternoon free for shopping on you own.

Day 16  Hong Kong

Free on your own exploration: special tour, shopping, or other last minute pursuit.

Day 17   Hong Kong / Departure

It is time to say goodbye to your guide. Transfer to the airport and fly homebound. Land package only customers will arrange your own transfer and flight for departure.

Land package only: US$2,128 per person, double.

Single hotel room and cruise cabin supplement: US$930.


March, June, July, August and November:

all inclusive; $2,528 per person, double.

Land package only: US$1,928 pp, double.

* April 10 - May 5, Oct. 10- Nov. 5 are Caton Fair period. Prices are $180 pp extra.
