Bob Casey
Bob Casey
London Irish and Ireland Lock Forward
Biography

Bob Casey (26) the Ireland lock forward, joined London Irish at the beginning of the 2002/03 season. He has been capped five times by Ireland and made 40 representative appearances for Leinster in the domestic Celtic League and European competitions. Casey's primary motivation for moving to this country was to broaden his experience of playing top class rugby.

Now in his third season with London Irish, Bob has made 60 first team appearances for the club. He has established himself as one of the leading exponents of lineout play in the Premiership and has had a major impact among the players, staff and fans, gaining the respect of his peers. After rugby Bob's other sporting interests include golf and football, in particular Liverpool FC.

BBC Sport Academy

This website is a great teaching tool not only for kids but also coaches and professionals! The Sport Academy covers all the major sports like rugby, cricket, football and golf (some of my team mates would find that section helpful!). The BBC always puts an interesting spin on learning and this website covers everything you need to know. From skills, training and fitness techniques to the laws of the game of rugby and understanding all that rugby jargon! I was impressed at how thorough it is, right down to the masterclasses where you can get tips from top international players. It's accessible, friendly and very easy to read. It promotes a healthy and positive lifestyle for kids with challenges and activities for them to try out. On top of all this you can also find your nearest rugby club so kids can join their local team and start playing.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing

When my rugby career is finished I want to pursue a career in marketing. I have started taking work experience with club contacts and sponsors. Like so many other disciplines, professional standards and qualifications are important which is why I find this website so useful. The Chartered Institute of Marketing is among the world's leading marketing organisations, which is reflected in the content of the website. The Learning Zone in particular is very useful as it covers subjects such as qualifications, training and current trends in marketing.

Christina Noble Children's Foundation

I am a member of the United Kingdom board of the Christina Noble Foundation (CNCF). The Foundation was established in 1990 by Dublin born, Christina Noble. In the intervening years, over 40 projects have been established to assist the thousands of children in Vietnam and Mongolia who continue to endure the dreadful indignities of poverty and economic struggle. CNCF provides the children with medical care, education and protection from sexual and economic repression. Last summer I spent a week in Vietnam visiting some of the Foundation's projects and encouraging the staff in their efforts. We visited schools and orphanages and met lots of the children. There is much to do out there. Over the years the Foundation has strived to help disadvantaged kids and give then a better chance in life by helping to build kindergartens, schools and hospitals for the blind.

This website keeps me up to date with all the activities the kids have been involved in and helps to raise the charity's profile. It's good to read the feedback of people from all over the world who have been touched by the children's work.
