Borneo Liveaboards
In Malaysia, liveaboard diving is most popular in Borneo. This is due to the spectacular nature of the dive destinations available around Borneo such as Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai and Lankayan.
The greatest advantage of joining a liveaboard cruise in Borneo is that you'll get the opportunity to dive at some of the smaller deserted islands. These islands are Pulau Balambangan, Pulau Banggi, Pulau Jambongan, Pulau Mollenangan, Pulau Balak and Pulau Malawi. Besides diving pristine coral reefs with an amazing variety of Pacific reef fish and corals, you'll also get the opportunity to dive a few of the wrecks in the area as well.
Peninsula Malaysia Liveaboard
Most liveaboard vacations on the peninsula visit diving sites at the islands of Pulau Tioman, Pulau Aur and Pulau Dayang, in the marine park of Johor on the east coast of the peninsula, and offer both recreational and technical diving.
Tioman Island has some fantastic dive sites. The location for the 1950s musical "South Pacific", Tioman was voted one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world. Its dive sites are just as beautiful as its island scenery - a veritable underwater garden of colourful fish, with some exciting swim throughs and interesting coral formations.
Aur and Dayang islands are mostly rocky with untouched equatorial jungles. Regardless of what your preferred underwater sightings may be, you'll find it at these dive sites - from colourful nudibranchs to elusive wandering whalesharks.
Perhaps the biggest attraction of diving around Tioman Island, Aur Island and Dayang are the wreck diving sites. If you're a wreck diving enthusiast and fancy some deep hull penetrations, then tec diving at these sites is something you simply must try out.
Among the wrecks found in these waters are World War II battleships HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse, World War II Minesweeper The Banka, two Dutch submarines, the K 17 and the O 16, as well as a Swedish super tanker, The Seven Skies.

We ask each and everyone one of our customers to rate their diving cruise, and the rating earned by each boat is an average of the ratings received from our customers over the last season. That way, we ensure that our recommendations and ratings are truly unbiased and reflect up-to-date performance based on the most important indicator - your satisfaction!
Although scuba diving has been around in Malaysia more than three decades, most operators have focused on resort diving. Therefore, your options for liveaboards in Malaysia is quite limited when compared to other Southeast Asia diving destinations.
