Volunteer Program and Homestay Thailand
Homestay Elephant Mahout Project
At
he village there are about 200 domestic elephants who live together with
their mahouts. You will become part of this community for at least 2
weeks. Together with the elephants and the mahouts you will visit the
forest in the morning where the elephants can eat. You will also learn how
to control the elephant and will clean and wash them during the day. This
program has a high educational level, both about domestic elephants and
about the Thai culture. Besides you are also expected to support with
house activities. This gives
you another great opportunity and if you like, you can become a master
Thai cook !
The
income generated from the tourists that join this exciting program, is
being used for basic needs and food for both the local people as their
elephants. By supporting the village through sustainable or Ecotourism,
they people can earn money in a decent
way, instead of performing illegal logging or ‘begging’ in
Bangkok for example.

Homestay Karen Hilltribe village
On
a day-to-day base, you are expected to teach the local children English
and to help out with farming and home activities. As most children do not
speak any English yet, you have to be a little creative with teaching
methods (or you must already speak the Thai language!). Evening time and
weekends can be spent freely. You can stay at the village, visit the city
Um-Phang or explore the beautiful area around the district of Um-Phang.
Some of the highlights here are caves, gorgeous tempels and the beautiful
Tee-Law-Soo waterfall. We can arrange local guides to join you on
these nature trips. At the village, you can experience the warmth and
hospitality of the local people, as you become part of the extended family
with whom you live. The local people will also help you to master the
basics of the Thai language.

Dusky
Langur Conservation and Educational project
Worldwide, the forests are decreasing in rapid pace. Thailand and the countries in Southeast Asia also suffer from this, due to the increasing population of humans and their actions. The Dusky Langurs in Thailand are one of the animals of which the existence is being threatened now. in the past, local people who had no food, sometimes shot the langurs for consumption. An additional problem is that the langurs live in relatively small area's which are surrounded by roads. They do not have possibilities to mate with langurs from other groups and are therefore forced to mate with own family which results in genetic problems and so also threatened their future existence. The area where the langurs live in this village is also not very rich of natural resources and additional food and water need to be given to them in order to keep them healthy. more
