Mini guide to Shannon Airport
Shannon Airport is one of the principle entry-points for transatlantic flights arriving in Europe. Almost 3 million people use the airport, which is located a short 24 km from Limerick on one side and Ennis on the west. It provides an excellent access point to towns and cities across the south and mid-west of Ireland.
One terminal serves all arrivals and departures, with excellent facilities provided for those on domestic and international flights.
Bureaux de change may be found in the check-in concourse, departures lounge and customs hall, while full banking facilites are available in the Arrivals concourse. ATMs are located in the check-in concourse, departures lounge and arrivals hall. Postboxes are also available, and are situated in the check-in concourse and Arrivals hall. You will find stamps in the foodstore positioned between check-in and Arrivals halls.
A good selection of bars and restaurants are available. Full-meals are also served between 07:00 and 18:00 on the first level. A bar is located in the same area, and serves hot food outside these hours. There is another bar in the departures lounge, open 24/7.
Irish gift shops and a convenience store are available with internet access available at an outlet positioned between the check-in and the arrivals hall.
Shannon, being the birthplace of duty-free, has long experience and excellent facilities. A wide range of products may be purchased in the departures lounge, with savings of up to 50% off downtown prices on traditional duty-free products.
A left luggage service is provided upon request, from the Airport Operations Office (tel: + 353 61 712 408). In the case of lost property enquiries, this number should also be contacted. Extra facilities include two nurseries located in the departures lounge and arrivals concourse.
The departures lounge on the first floor provides two airline lounges. The Gold Circle lounge may be used by Aer Lingus Gold Circle members, and the Rineanna Suite is accessible to business and first-class passengers of other airlines.
The airport has lifts, specially adapted payphones, toilets and ramps to facilitate those with mobility difficulties. Clearly indicated areas are provided to pick-up and set-down of disabled travellers in front of the terminal.
