In Danang, visitors will have an opportunity to see the
traditional Vietnamese music and dance at the Nguyen Hien Dinh
Theatre, open at 7.30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
SHOPPING
Han Market, located at the corner of Hung Vuong and Tran Phu
Streets is a fine place for strolling or shopping in the evening.
Shops and stalls usually open late.
Another point for shopping in Danang is its Con Market, the
largest in the city, but it opens mostly during the day. Various
selection of everything sold in Vietnam can be found, including
household items, clothes, ceramic, stationery, cutlery, fresh
vegetable and fruits as well as flowers.
EATING
Danang offers a wide variety of foods ranging from the food stalls
to up-scale restaurants. Local restaurants and food stalls can be
found along the Ly Tu Trong, the southern end of Nguyen Thi Minh
Khai, and streets around the Phuong Dong Hotel crossroads. The
street kitchen on Phan Dinh Phung Street also offers fine dishes
at decent prices.

RESTAURANT
Hue still preserves a tradition of imperial cuisine. Royal
meals can be ordered in advanced at hotels such as Century, Huong
Giang, Hue Citadel, etc. Besides, Hue is also famous for popular
dishes like "com hen" (rice with mussels, very spicy),
"banh khoai" (a large stuffed pancake), "banh beo"
(another type of pancake), "banh loc" (cassava starch
cakes), "bun bo" (Hue's beef vermicelli soup), "che
bap" (maize porridge). Some restaurants specialised in such
dishes are Com Hen at Pham Hong Thai Street, 2 Truong Dinh St. or
along Con Hen., Bun Bo Hue at 11B Ly Thuong Kiet St., Banh khoai
at 2 Nguyen Binh Khiem St., Nguyen Hue St. and Conner of Truong
Dinh - Ba Huyen Thanh Quan., and Che Bap on Hen Island.
ENTERTAINMENT
Hue is a famous city in Central Vietnam, which attracts many
visitors. It is a quiet and poetic town, but it nevertheless
offers many cultural activities, games and entertainment. You can
go on a boat trip on the Perfume River to behold places of
interest, enjoy songs of Hue, have royal food at Huong Giang Hotel
or Century Hotel, and walk in one of the parks such as Kim Dong,
Tu Tuong or 3 February Park. There is a well-known statue garden
in the Ly Tu Trong Park. The natural landscapes and the historical
sites constitute pleasant destinations for weekend tours during
the summer.
There are music and song programs at the Cultural House on the
occasion of festivals and holidays. Selected films are daily shown
at Dong Ba, Tan My and Hai Ba Trung Theatre. Dancing halls can be
found in some hotels such as Dong Da, Ngoc Anh, Thang Loi, Ngo
Quyen and there are several "Karaoke" clubs along Nguyen
Hue Street, Hai Ba Trung Street, Le Thanh Ton Street, Phan Chu
Trinh Street, Han Thuyen Streets, etc. You can go there to sing
and have fun. As for physical exercise, there are the Sport Center
at 35 Nguyen Hue St.; Freedom Stadium, Sport Center of Hue
University and swimming pool, at 2 Le Quy Don St.
SHOPPING
Hue is known for producing the finest conical hats in Vietnam. The
city's specialty is 'poem hats' which, when held up to the light,
reveal black cut-out scenes that are sandwiched between the layers
of translucent palm leaves. Hue is also home to one of the largest
and most beautiful selections of rice-paper and silk paintings
available in Vietnam, but the prices quoted are usually inflated
to about four times the real price. You can often negotiate a 50%
discount simply by starting to walk away from a souvenir stall.
Fashion shops, souvenir shops and galleries concentrate on
large streets in Hue City such as: Tran Hung Dao Street, Hung
Vuong Street, Phan Dang Luu Street, Mai Thuc Loan Street. At
markets such as Dong Ba Market, An Cuu, Ben Ngu, Tay Loc, you can
buy Hue's specialties: nems (meat rolls), cha (grilled chopped
meat), tom chua (shrimp sauces), me xung (sesame-sprinkled gum)
and lotus seeds. Besides, you can find a lot of gifts, which are
the products of handicraft villages such as Hue poem conical hats,
utensils, copper casting statues and carved-wood products.

EATING
Hoi An possesses a fine selection of restaurants which offer
an array of delicious local specialties. Among the most famous
cuisines of Hoi An include cao lau, a bowlful of noodles with bean
sprouts and pork slices, served with grilled-rice-flour crackers
or sprinkled with crispy rice paper. Fresh seafood is also a
popular specialty of Hoi An. The dice crab or shrimp wrapped up in
steamed flour parcels, called nuoc mam is worth trying. For
dessert to complete the meal, try a special Hoi An cake, called
banh it, made of green bean paste with sweeten coconut.
From Bach Dang, Tran Phu up to Nguyen Hue Streets, you can
easily find an array of eatery outlets. On the Le Loi Street, the
cheaper restaurants can be found, an ideal place for backpackers.
SHOPPING
Considered as the center of arts and antiques, Hoi An is the
shoppers' paradise. Cotton cloth is one of the most well-known
production of Hoi An; unsurprisingly, there are then a number of
tailor shops around town. But if you would like to see various
materials, head to the Hoi An Cloth Market on Tran Phu Street.
Artworks including woodcarvings of Cam Nam Village, pottery at
Thanh Ha Village are also the local specialities. |
