What is NMMA PAC?
The National Marine Manufacturers Association Political Action Committee (NMMA PAC) provides financial support to Senate and House election and re-election campaigns. It is a vital voice of the NMMA Government Relations Department, which speaks for the marine industry to our federal and state governments.
How Does NMMA PAC Serve Your Company?
NMMA PAC works to elect legislators who support legislation that protects the vitality of the recreational boating industry-and your business.
How Does NMMA PAC Benefit Me?
NMMA PAC:
- Expresses your opinions and ideas in the election of pro-boating federal legislators
- Connects you with legislators involved in boating and manufacturing issues.
- Keeps you in the vanguard of industry knowledge through PAC Members Only updates
- Provides opportunities to build personal relationships with your congressional leaders by contributing to them on behalf of the marine industry.
NMMA PAC is the official political action committee of the National Marine Manufacturers Association. Federal law prohibits trade associations from contributing dues income to federal candidates. However, NMMA is permitted to encourage its members to play an active political role by making personal contributions to our political action committee. To communicate our concerns and interests on Capitol Hill, our industry has become directly involved in electing members of Congress who understand the recreational boating industry, and who will make decisions that are compatible with the interests of the boating industry.
The passage of one bill in the U.S. Congress can have a greater impact on the future of the boating industry than most decisions made by your company's management. Think about it. Could a tax on boats be revisited to offset big Washington spending? Will changes to the Clean Air Act create stringent standards that result in episodic bans on recreational boating? Will efforts to reform product liability laws be squelched? Will increased CAFE standards result in smaller, lighter cars and trucks incapable of pulling most boats on trailers?
Every dollar NMMA PAC members contribute is used to support candidates for federal office. NMMA absorbs all of the administrative costs of NMMA PAC.
NMMA PAC is administered by NMMA PAC Manager Nick Tindall, in NMMA's Washington office. Nick can be contacted at (202) 737-9762 or by email at ntindall@nmma.org
