Murkowski thanked members of U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crews for their role in high-risk rescue operations associated with the freighter Selendang Ayu's grounding near Dutch Harbor on Dec. 8. During their nearly hour-long visit on Jan. 12, the Coast Guardsmen shared details of the night, in which a first helicopter crashed while rescuing crewmen from the grounded freighter, and a second helicopter saved the first copter’s crew and some passengers.
